Before I start, I would just like to say I do not mind Nene staying a wizard at all (providing he stays somewhat healthy).
However if we are looking to trade any of our players I think Nene should be the one we try to move as his contract is very lengthy and I cannot see him maintaining a good standard of play for 3 more years.
So hypothetically what do you guys think of:
Nene + Jan/Sing/Book + 1 round pick for Bargnani + DeMar DeRozan.
The salary figures work out on trade machine, I know DeMar is due to receive 9M next year, I am not sure if this affects things.
If we play DeMar at the 3 and Bargnani at the 4 we would have a significant upgrade at the 3 spot, as good as Martell has been, DeMar is the obvious 'big signing' of the trade. Bargs is somewhat the extra baggage we take on in this trade but he would be that stretch 4 many of us have been talking about. That would make a lineup of Wall/Beal/DeRozan/Bargnani/Oak. Offensively I could imagine this being a nightmare for the opposition trying to match up on. Defensively could be an issue with Bargs, I haven't watched the Raptors enough to know.
The draft pick obviously would be key in this, there is no way they would deal DeRozan otherwise and you would have to hope they saw enough in one of our 3 'developing' SF's.
Would Toronto do it? I am not sure, but they have been wanting to get rid of Bargnani forever and with Gay and Ross + draft picks they would probably have enough to cover the loss of DeRozan (I think).
I am not sure how key DeRozan is in their plans moving forward but if Toronto would do it (they have made plenty of dumb trades in the past) I would take this trade, as much as I don't like Bargnani.
What do you guys think? I am no professional at this, so feel free to offer other ways which it might work better or tell me if it wouldn't work at all.
