Wizards vs. Raptors preview: Washington returns home for Easter Sunday

USA TODAY Sports

We preview the Easter Sunday clash between the Wizards and the Raptors.

The Wizards are finally back at home, you guys. After a road trip that seemingly lasted forever, the Wizards will celebrate Easter with a Sunday night home game against the Toronto Raptors. Let's preview this thing.

Where and when? Tip off is at 6 p.m. in D.C.

Are they good? Toronto looked very good immediately after the Rudy Gay trade, but have faded since, having lost five in a row before Friday's win over the lowly Detroit Pistons. Gay himself has always struggled, though his woes have become even more magnified as he battles a back injury.

Who's out? We'll see whether Bradley Beal finally returns to the court after reaggravating his ankle injury March 20 against the Phoenix Suns. A.J. Price, Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster came back after nagging injuries and sickness on Friday, so I'm guessing they'll play again. Nene didn't, so we'll see about him. Andrea Bargnani and Linas Kleiza are out for the Raptors.

Why should I care? Assuming you aren't watching college hoops, this game is interesting because it pits two lottery teams in similar places. Both had expectations that they would push into the Eastern Conference's hierarchy, but it hasn't happened for either club. The Raptors, like the Wizards, acted in a win-now way when they traded for Gay. Unlike the Wizards, they don't have their lottery pick this year thanks to the Kyle Lowry deal.

What are they good at? Gay and DeMar DeRozan can catch fire from mid-range and carry a team to victory. Also, when Amir Johnson is in the game, the Raptors are very strong up front.

What are they bad at? Their mid-range-heavy offense can be very inefficient, so they are prone to some massive droughts. They lack good passers to create easy looks for teammates, so things devolve into one-on-one pretty quick.
