NBA trade rumors: Wizards interested in J.J. Redick?

A report suggests the Wizards have registered their interest in Orlando Magic guard J.J. Redick, but it seems unlikely that a deal will happen.

At this point, half the league is interested in acquiring Orlando Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick in a trade. Could the Washington Wizards be in that half? ESPN's Chris Broussard says yes:

I'd caution making too much out of this. For one, Broussard's rumor accuracy isn't very high. For another, it makes little sense to acquire Redick when Bradley Beal is firmly entrenched as the starting shooting guard. Redick's absolutely a valuable player, and he's way better than Jordan Crawford, but he's also an impending free agent and is reportedly seeking a big extension, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sources say Redick's agent, Arn Tellem, will likely start the bidding at four years, $40 million for Redick on the free-agent market.

Redick won't get that kind of a deal, but teams with interest in the guard tell Yahoo! Sports they could be willing to pay him in the range of $7 million annually.

Throw in the Magic's reported asking price of a first-round pick, and I just don't see it happening. At most, this feels like the Wizards placing a phone call and moving on. I would be very surprised if Redick actually ends up in D.C.
