Personally, I don't think Shabazz Muhammad is best suited for the SF position in the NBA, however there are many people who believe he is. I've watched him a bunch, and I just don't see the ball handling or first step that will allow him to get to the rim in the NBA. He is an average at best ball handler, isn't very quick and is pretty much an under the rim type of player. I've seen many Paul Pierce and Melo comparisons, and I just really don't see it. First of all Pierce and Melo and are about 1.5-2 inches taller than Shabazz and secondly they both had great handles, were extremely quick, could get to the rim, and could create their own shot. The first thing I always hear is the Shabazz can play it because he has a large wingspan (6' 11"). Well, the truth is he has pretty much the exact same length as Kobe, Wade, Harden and also many other SG's in the league, it's not like he has some unheard of length. Also with his lack of height and athleticism, I don't see him being able to guard 3's in the NBA. Yes, Shabazz is very crafty but without the ability to slash, how effective can he ultimately become? Playing the 2 he should be able to overpower players, but at the 3 he really doesn't have any advantage. I honestly see him being a Wesley Matthews type but without the defense. If you do think his true position is SF, what skills does he possess that makes you believe he will be more successful there than at SG?
