We saw it again last night from Wall. A late game, out-of-control drive with a thrown-away ball, looking like a college freshman.
This guy continues to look out of sync in the half court when the game is on the line. The best possessions last night came when Beal got the ball early and provided the threat of a drive or shoot coming off the high P&R.
We're only a month and a half into the season, but I visited NBA Stats to get a look at Wall in crunch time. Here's a brief snapshot.. . .
Complete game statistics:
- Assists/Turnovers ratio: 2.5
- Field goal PCT: 41.5%
Last 5 minutes, game is within 5 points (80 minutes of stats):
- A/T ratio: 2.25
- FG % : 33.3%
Last 3 minutes, game is within 5 points (50 minutes worth of stats)
- A/T ratio: 1.75
- FG% : 28%
Keep in mind the "whole game" statistics contain the late & close, so they'd be even better if we removed those last 5 minutes.
In the small sample size of "last 30 seconds, team is +/- 3 points" (7 minutes total), these get even worse, with his FG% dipping into the single digits, and his A/T ratio flipping to .5. I hope we see these improve. He's had to take on a little more scoring burden with all the injuries to his teammates, but if you've watched these guys this year and thought, "man, he doesn't look comfortable in the half court in these situations", you're right.
Here's a link to a Video of his last 30 second +/- 3 shot attempts.
Yeah, maybe the OKC one was a foul, but that's a pretty weak collection.
Thanks for reading.
