Bradley Beal could return from injured leg vs. Knicks

The Wizards' second-year guard participated in shootaround and could play for the first time in nine games on Monday, provided he fares well in a pregame workout.

NEW YORK -- The Washington Wizards may get a much-needed boost to help stop their four-game skid. Bradley Beal, who has sat since late November with a stress injury in his right leg, participated in shootaround and said he may return to the court Monday when the Wizards take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

"We'll see. I got to work out before the game, and the trainers, coaches and myself will decide before then. Still not sure," he said.

"We'll have to see how my workout goes," he said later. "If I give it a shot, I definitely will be more than ready."

Beal has not played since November 23, when the Wizards defeated these same Knicks at the Verizon Center. The Wizards are 4-5 in his absence.

Beal also admitted there have been discussions about limiting his workload, at least initially. Beal was averaging over 40 minutes a game prior to his injury despite sitting out most of the summer with a stress fracture in a different part of his right leg.

"We talked about it a little bit. I'll leave that decision up to the docs and coach," Beal said. "Of course, if the game's in the heat of the moment, I won't want to come out, if I play. But it's for my own benefit. At the end of the day, I still want to compete to the best of my abilities, but at the same time, I have to be smart."
