The Wizards have had notable attendance woes in recent years, and I'm sure many of you recall the infamous 30 cent ticket story a couple of seasons ago. I've always depended on StubHub for dirt cheap tickets when I'm taking my kids. We've routinely gotten $10 Acela Club level seats for many games, and even sat behind the basket for about $8 in the "Lodge" section. It was awesome!
This season, it seems like the gig is up. Team attendance is essentially the same as last year, but I can't find a dirt cheap non-400 level seat anywhere on StubHub, even for lowly opponents on weeknights. Comparable seats are roughly 3x last year's amount. Why?
Anyone have theories on what happened here? Are resellers simply not buying anymore, thus keeping supply low and prices high? Is the fact that the team's supposed to be good inflating prices? Is Ted somehow responsible? Got any other places I can find good seats for next to nothing (other than Craigslist)?
Sorry if this post violates one of the SBNation rules, Mike. That's not my goal. I just want some good, affordable non-nosebleeds for my family of 5.
