In honor of transparency: I detest EG as a GM. I'm hoping to hear from you all about what you think are needed skills to succeed as an NBA GM in today's NBA. There are only so many of these jobs available on the planet, so it takes a unique skill set to get them. What are they? Please list 5. In fairness of EG, i.e. looking at his performance from Ted's point of view, what skills does he bring to his position that are valued, and that thus keep him employed? Please list up to 5.
5 needed for being a GM: (1) Asset management; (2) awareness of changing trends (how the game is played and coached; metrics; medicine and sports therapy, broadly); (3) confidence in decisions; (4) surrounding yourself with over achievers in every position of the organization who are paid well so they stay loyal, and the ability to have them say "bad idea" and you listen; (5)Asset management.
