Apperantly Asik has asked for a trade. He lost his starting job and doesn't want to be a backup. Asik is young enough to be part of our core going forward with Wall, Beal and Porter. He is a defensive ace in the paint, something we desperately need and his contract (3yrs/$25m) is very reasonable imho as well.
Trade proposal: Ariza + Singleton for Asik
The money should work as Ariza makes $7.5m and I believe Singleton is somewhere around $2m in his third year. Both contracts are expiring since we didn't pick up Singleton's 4th yr option. If they want I'd be fine with them taking our 2014 second round pick and any other player in stead (or in addition if the money works)apart from Wall, Beal and Porter.
Houston might do this because they severly lack perimeter defense. It's a joke. With Howard and Harden they are ready to content but if Patrick Beverly is your best and only perimeter defense, you ain't winning in the post season. Ariza's prowess as a perimeter defender are well known around the leage and Chris Singleton still should have the image of a potential lockdown perimeter defender who just got mishandled by a poor organization.
I'm sure teams will be rolling over eachother to get Asik, so there might be better options out there for Houston, but I certainly think it's worth a try. Get yo ass on the damn phone Ernie!!
