How would you have used Omeka's expiring and the protected 2014 pick?

So it seems that many of us are unhappy with the recent trade for Marcin Gortat. While I hate saying that the whole BF community is against the trade, I feel that it is fair to say that we're at least a little tired with EG's carelessness asset management. The NBA has seen the value of first round draft picks skyrocket, especially with the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, expiring contracts have somewhat depreciated, although the salary cap still keeps them relevant. Anyways, how would you have used two of our biggest, tradeable assets considering the following?

NEEDS:The Wizards obviously needed a big man at the 5 to even sniff the playoffs, and it seems that Emeka's injury may have been worse than originally thought (although injuries that don't have a timetable are usually very hard to predict when a player will return).

ASSETS: OKARIZA's expirings, first round picks, recent draft picks (read: Otto Porter- I don't believe anyone drafted 2010/2011 is tradeable.)

Guys like Omer Asik, Greg Monroe, and Lamarcus Aldridge would carry a steep price tag, especially the latter two. But, any of them could force their way to a deadline trade due to playing time or a bad relationship with the front office. The only problem with playing the waiting game is finding someone who could fill in for Okafor and allow us to tread water until a trade could be made.
