Magical Pixels, Wizards vs. Knicks: Melo trumps nostalgia in Washington's return to Baltimore

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards franchise returned to Baltimore and were technically the "home" team in their 98-89 preseason loss to the New York Knicks, but you wouldn't have known it thanks to the hometown support received by B-More native Carmelo Anthony.

The Washington Wizards played their fourth preseason game in Baltimore yesterday, which understandably confused some people.

Cue the nostalgia.

Man, J.A. Adanda is older  than we thought.

Anyway, despite the "home team" status, it was no coincidence the Wizards were playing the New York Knicks in a homecoming for Charm City-native Carmelo Anthony.

So the Wizards might not have had a traditional home crowd behind them, but that's not why they lost, 98-89, and fell to 1-3 in the preseason. The important takeaway from this game was that John Wall and Bradley Beal looked good (again), and looked good playing together (again). Put another way:

Now for a fun GIF.

Hehe. Still, Ii'd be nice to see Otto Porter at some point.

Thanks for the reassurance, Ted.

Unfortunately, the Wizards' bench didn't look so hot, and was primarily responsible for the loss. How'd Jan Vesely do?

Woof. Eric Maynor?

Ick. Josh Childress?

Indeed. I feel like we're forgetting something...oh, right.

Man, WE are older than we thought.

It is a tragedy this wasn't allowed to happen. This deserves a moment of silence.
