A Brief Analysis of the Wizards Record--close losses and injuries

Stay connected for news and updates

For the record, I have not been closely following Bullets Forever, as I usually do, over the past few months due to work and personal stuff, so if this is re-treading work/discussion that has already appeared forgive me!

Here is a breakdown of the Wizards record: 9 wins, 30 losses

WINS

Single Digits/OT: 7

Double Digits: 2

LOSSES

Single Digits/OT: 21

Double Digits: 9

To push this a little further I went back through and figured out how many of the single digit losses came without significant contributors. Here is a breakdown of the number of those single digit losses that a given player missed:

John Wall: 19

Trevor Booker: 14

Nene: 8

Jordan Crawford: 1

AJ Price: 9

Now...I am not saying that the Wizards would have won all of our games had we been fully healthy the whole season; however, I am saying that if we had fewer "missed games" by 5 of our best and most experienced players, scorers, and defenders then I think it is reasonable to say that we would have more wins... I would love to see how any team in the league does with 5 of its top 8 players missing a total of 51 games...not well is my guess.

Let me know your thoughts, any other statistical analysis you can bring to bear, etc. It just pisses me off a lot when I hear people saying how bad the Wizards are, or how health issues have no impact on how our season has gone thus far...
