With all of the trade rumors circulating Rudy Gay and our beloved Washington Wizards... I began thinking. What other small forwards could we trade for? I read an article that said that the Wizards front office is preying on teams that are trying desperately to avoid of the luxury tax. While Denver wasn't mentioned, I did some research and found out that they have absolutely nothing coming off the books next year and that they would be looking into cutting some dead weight (overpaid vets) to free up some $$$. The two players that were spotlighted were 1. Andre Miller & 2. Wilson Chandler. And while we aren't necessarily interested in Andre Miller (in part to the inspired play of AJ Price), I could see Chandler starting at the 3 for us and growing with our core, seeing as he's only 25. In Chandler, we'd be getting a starting 3 who can average 15pts, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal a game and still has room to grow.
This is a trade that I think helps all parties involved... http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=adw3yf9
Getting rid of Chandler and Mozgov will save Denver some money, as will Webster's expiring contract. The only thing is that Denver will just have to bite the bullet when it comes to Ariza's player option. In Mozgov, the Celtics get another big body who actually fits their playing style well (alot better than Mozgov fits in the Nugget's system). Also, the Nuggets won't mind getting rid of Mozgov since they have a logjam at center anyways. In Crawford, the Celtics get "a younger, more reliable scorer off the bench that can allow Pierce and Garnett to rest and, as they did Friday, power the club in the fourth quarter." (Found that on CelticsBlog... http://www.celticsblog.com/2013/1/14/3874768/danny-ainge-no-big-deal-imminent-and-other-nba-trade-rumor-season). And in return, the Washington Wizards received SF Wilson Chandler and SG Courtney Lee (a guy we all liked from the start and someone who will excel at shooting corner 3s courtesy of Jimmy Wall).
Tell me what you think?
