Don't laugh me out of this forum, just by reading the headline...The Wizards are putting together a pretty good squad defensively, which made me think back to the 88-89 Detroit Pistons. I took a look at their roster from way back and there are some fairly nice comparisons. I know we are younger, less experienced, less successful, etc. etc. but, take a look at the player comparisons.
Isiah Thomas G John Wall
Joe Dumars G Bradley Beal
Adrian Dantley F-G Trevor Ariza
Rick Mahorn C-F Nene
Bill Laimbeer C Kevin Seraphin
Vinnie Johnson G Jordan Crawford
Dennis Rodman F Trevor Booker
James Edwards C-F Emeka Okafor
Mark Aguirre F-G Jan Vesely
John Salley F-C Chris Singleton
Look, I understand that most of these comparisons are not favorable (yet, I hope). However, it seems to me like we could do worse than choosing a team like the 89 Pistons to emulate. Wondering what you think...
