Why Last Night's Draft Has Doomed This Organization

Everyone loves the Beal pick now, but I bet in a few yrs, we're all going to be looking back on this draft and saying "Why did we pass on that guy for a role player?"

Just my opinion, but I don't see "star" potential in Beal. I think he'll be a jack-of-all-trades, master of none type player; a pro's pro, whatever you want to call it, but not a star. Lacks an explosive 1st step, doesn't play above the rim, can't break down his defender off the dribble, etc. He is a good shooter (even though I'm very wary of his %'s), is smart, and can occasionally get to the rim when he sees daylight, but all I'm seeing is a poor man's Ray Allen. I would've definitely went w/ the guy w/ superstar potential in Drummond instead of drafting for need. We're not going to be picking this high again for some time, and we blew it.

EG and Leonsis are running this franchise into the ground. Basically, their current strategy is to stock up on role players and try to make a playoff run, enough to get the 8th seed and get bounced out of the 1st round. We've traded for overpaid players and drafted a guy just because he "fits" so we can become marginally better than we were last yr.

And the worst thing about it is that we're banking on one guy becoming a franchise player. Do I think Wall has superstar potential? Yes, but he has shown minimal improvement from yr 1 to yr 2, and is still pretty raw compared to other PGs. You don't draft for need unless you already have an established superstar, which we don't.

Basically, I just don't think Leonsis and EG care about winning a championship. They're trying to make this team "mediocre" and keep the fans satisfied enough to not revolt. Unless you guys think Beal will be a star, we have not shot at winning a championship for the next 10 yrs at least.
