The Lakers aren't as good as they'd like to be and they'll want to incorporate a star into their roster this summer. Deron Williams is the best player available in free agency but because of their cap situation, the Lakers can only get him in a sign-and-trade. Of their big $ guys, they'd probably prefer to dump Gasol to make room for Deron, but the Nets probably wouldn't be interested in facilitating a Deron for Pau sign-and-trade for a number of reasons.

Is it possible/feasible/desirable for the Wizards to send Rashard Lewis for Pau Gasol and then the Lakers buying out Rashard's partially guaranteed contract in order to sign Deron Williams straight up using cap space? There are a lot of variables I'm uncertain of, but it's an idea that came into my head and if this deal isn't the best scenario, maybe the concept lends itself to other similar deals.
