James Singleton Is Returning To The Washington Wizards

NEW ORLEANS - MARCH 31: Darius Songaila #9 of the New Orleans Hornets fights for a rebound with James Singleton #22 of the Washington Wizards at New Orleans Arena on March 31, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. You all remember James Singleton, right? He was a throw-in to the 2010 trade that sent Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to the Dallas Mavericks, but emerged as a cult favorite due to his hustle and personality? From the sounds of it, he's coming back.

This from the official account of ASM Sports, which represents Singleton.

I've yet to see anything that indicates what kind of contract Singleton will receive, but the Wizards had an open roster spot after releasing Hamady Ndiaye and obviously need another big man with Nene and Trevor Booker out.

Singleton had been playing in China, but the season was over, so he was free to sign back in the US. He left for China in the summer of 2010 when the Wizards were unwilling to meet his asking price.

Welcome back, James.

UPDATE: The Wizards confirmed the news in a press release. Singleton is signing a 10-day contract.
