The greatest thing about Rookies is they become Sophomores. Why as a basketball society do we draft players on "potential" but expect them to reach their potential immediately. After the first 2 weeks Jan Vesely played for the Wizards people were alreay calling him a bust. He has only had a cup of coffee with the team. Why don't we give him until next year right about the same time Kevin Seraphin has started to break out. Trevor Booker has blossomed during his second year. There is no doubt about that.
I have been saying to go back and watch last years Lakers game at LA where Booker and Seraphin gave us a glimpse of what they could do. They absolutely dominated the Lakers in the 2nd half of that game. Flip made them disappear for the rest of the year. So much for helping them progress.
Thank you Randy Wittman for playing Booker and Seraphin. For giving them the opportunity to grow. Jan is getting the minutes now since Booker is out.
So we will go into the summer and some people will be saying how we wasted the #6 pick on Vesely. How Leonard and Brooks and others are much better.
The great thing about Jan Vesely is that he becomes a sophomore next year. That is when we will see him break out, and when he does "watch out NBA" John Wall is going to have an alley oop partner for years to come. From what I have seen Jan has a great basketball IQ. It is only a matter of time when he puts together that IQ with his physical gifts.
