John Wall for Rajon Rondo?

The Celtics are shopping Rondo, according to ESPN. Rondo this season is averaging around 14/10/5 per game, is a great defender and a fantastic point guard. He's owed around 10-12 million/yr over the next 3 years.

Wall is averaging around 17/8/5, is extremely athletic, and young. He's owed around 5 mil/yr for the next 3 years.

I know Ted Leonsis has said he wants to rebuild, and Wall seems to be totally untouchable, but I think Rondo is a better Point Guard. Now, this could be true because Rondo has the big 3 around him and Wall has no one, but the big 3 have been terrible this year, and Rondo is a better passer, rebounder and defender. Rondo does not score as much as Wall does, and I know the Wizards struggle to score points, but he can run the offense better than Wall can and go to the rim as well as anyone.

Stats to note:

Neither Guard shoots particularly well, they have almost identical TS%. Interestingly enough, Rondo has a better 2pt% than wall does, although Wall is a better free-throw shooter by almost 20%. The two are almost identical in PER, but thats only because Wall shoots 3 more shots a game and therefore scores more points. Rondo easily beats Wall in Wins/48 minutes, with .174 to .094, and Rondo has had seasons with Wins/48 above .2, which is twice as good as Walls current season.

To make the money work, I tried Wall/Blatche for Rondo and a cheaper player, Brandon Bass, Chris Wilcox or Pietrus. All of them work according to the trade machine. I think the Celts want to keep Bass, and we have an overabundance of SF, so Wilcox makes the most sense, given that he'll be a free-agent next year, and won't count against the cap. And WE GET RID OF BLATCHE.

Although Wall is younger, I think that works in our favour, as Boston is looking to rebuild. I know this is a stretch, but I think that Rondo could definitely convince some FA to come to DC.
