NBA All-Star Saturday Night Open Thread

John Wall is competing in the Skills Challenge, which will air sometime after that abominable Shooting Stars Competition. Otherwise, no Wizards are present.

I'm going to enjoy the show like everyone else. C'mon, Paul George. Show us something in the Dunk Contest.

The Heir Shooting Stars challenge

Is quite entertaining. I wouldn’t call it abominable. Alan Houston just hit all his shots, we should sign him to a contract.

Kevin Love

from now on Dray won’t need the scouting report to know he can shoot 3s!

Well done Love,

Classy move by Morrow to wear a Drazen Petrovic jersey.

Orlando....Worst.Crowd.Ever...

They should move tomorrow’s game out of spite…

I thought Gorge was going to win the dunk contest but I guess Evans was more consistent.

Okay, time to replace the dunk contest with another competition

It’s garbage now. I’d find a 1-on-1 contest much more entertaining.

And in regards to the crowd, I agree with the other. It’s weak. They barely cheered during the Rising Stars challenge too.

It's not really the players fault either

It’s just that everything has been done already, so you need props to win. That being said, 2010 was BY FAR the worst dunk contest ever, and it had no props.

Well

I don’t agree that everything has been done, I see new stuff all the time from street ball dunkers.

But even if everything is done already, just do it again better. Jordan could take a simple dunk and turn it into magic with the way he moved in air. The guys they are getting now aren’t athletic enough to do that type of stuff.

Imagine a dunk contest with Lebron, Blake, Rose, Westbrook, Wall, Wade, guys like this. Guys who are super competitive and athletic. I guarantee it would be a good dunk contest, and we may not see anything we’ve never seen before. It would just be their ability to pull off dunks that we’ve seen before, and make them even better.

And I disagree too...

It’s not the dunks… it’s the dunkers.

In the day, we got to see Dominique, Dr. J., Mike, Clyde the Glide, Vinsanity, and yes, even Kobe participated one year (and he won)…..

And there were venerable and respected judges like Darryl Dawkins, Dominique Wilkins, Karl Malone, Julius Erving, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson…….

Now we get Chase Budinger and some guy named Jeremy Evans?

Oh yeah… Instead of judges who actually know how hard a particular dunk is (because they played the game at the highest levels) – let’s let Joe the plumber from Podunk pick the winner….

I didn’t watch this year… there was nothing interesting for me to see…. So I watched an old movie classic the Lost World. The NBA didn’t get any advertising money out of me – and they won’t until they put something worthwhile on the screen for me to watch.

I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.

Geez ya'll are picky

I didn’t think it was the best dunk contest ever, but also definitely not the worst. Paul George dunked over Roy Hibbert which was pretty cool. And Jeremy Evans 2 ball dunk was pretty impressive (don’t forget JaVale had to palm two of the three when he did it).

It was decent. Scale from 1-10 I’d give it a 6-7. NOT BAD
