What about this option?
I think a ton of focus has been placed on DHoward and the big names, but what about the lesser names that together with Wall and Mcgee would make a great team and jump start a rebuild IMO.
What are thoughts on signing this guys (if possible):
All of them can shoot/score unlike any players that we currently have on the team. The draft can focus on BPA with the lottery pick and all of the options that have been thrown on the table so far would still be viable options (Davis, Robinson, Lamb). I would probably go with Lamb because while I see O.J. as an upgrade, he is inconsistent. There is also the option of trading up if need be.
PG: Wall/ Mack
SG: Mayo/ (Lamb?)
SF: Batum/ Vesely/ Singleton
PF: Anderson/ Booker/ (Robinson-Sullinger-Robinson???)
C: McGee/
The starting line up would be far and away better than the current starting line up, and none of those guys are going to require breaking the bank per-say. Thoughts?

Mayo had a nice game against the Sixers last night...
He now seems to be fitting well as a sixth man for the Grizz. And he can do more with the ball than shoot it. He actually gets assists.
That said, of the three guys mentioned, my first choice is Batum and second is Anderson.
Would love it but it's unlikely
Batum is gonna get locked up in Portland. With Dwight gone the Magic are going to want to keep some decent pieces so they don’t go into full rebuild mode. And idk much about mayo or his situation in memphis but i don’t think we need another similar to nick who probably needs the ball in his hand most of the time.
Didn't seem like the Blazers wanted to invest too much money in Batum when they had the chance
And now there was some bad blood between the two teams during the contract extension deadline. Batum’s agent even said "When Batum becomes a restricted free agent, we’ll look at the other 29 teams before we talk to the Blazers…The Blazers had their chance".
Looks like if we overpay Batum within reason, because it seems like Portland won’t match any big offers
They have rejected plenty of good trades for him in the past, even though he wasn't starting
Now he is starting.
Portland will have as much or more capspace than we will this summer and can match any offer.

I'd love to see this
But the Magic will probably keep Anderson no matter Dwight stay or leave, either as the perfect parter for D12 or a more reliable scorer in the roster
Batum = JUST DO IT!
Signing Mayo/ re-signing Young is more complicated, it should depend on who we get in the draft, we don’t need them if we get a SG, if we don’t, offer Mayo a contract that would cost less than Young and see what happens. But seriously I’d prefer neither, can we save the cap for James Harden in 2013?
Don't know if it's OK to put links here
Here’s a list of FAs for 2013, which I think is pretty stuffed with talents:
http://www.hoopsworld.com/2013-nba-free-agents
most of them are restricted though, like our own John Wall is on that list too
If you take those, away it isn’t as awesome anymore.

Yes, but at least we have the chance to give it a shot
and try to “overpay” a few players who really worth it, Harden could be one as the Thunder probably can’t afford to sign both Harden and Ibaka to big contracts, and they may want to keep Ibaka instead
The Nets couldn't do it, why do you think players will chose the Wizards?
I mean, the Nets were trying to go after the top free agents while having oodles of capspace, enough for 2 max contracts and still ended up needing to overpay Morrow and Outlaw to convince them to come.

And they have Prokharov, Jay-Z and Brooklyn going for them
After getting Deron Williams they STILL have trouble getting good players.
The Wizards are a worse team than the Nets and have a worse franchise rep. I don’t see us convincing a Harden to come to us over taking less money to stay in OKC or about the same money to play for a different team.

I disagree
Signing Harden would be after a free agent offseason, two more drafts, and a season and a half of playing. This team will be radically different.
I like all three of those guys....
…but with McGee and Wall, the team would be challenged on the boards.
McGee and Wall grab 15 boards between them per game. That's better than most PG-C combo's.
Booker is reasonable at 7 per game as a starter
Our problem is that Vesely grabs 2, Singleton 3, Lewis (if he plays) is at about 4 a game, but Seraphin is at 2, Nick at 3 and Crawford around 3 as well. That’s atrocious.
Your starting SF needs to be at 5 at minimum and you need at least one more big at 8 per game. Good teams are at about 43 rebounds a game, around 30 defensively. We are way off.
Rebounding, especially defensively, is just one of our many needs though, we also need shooting, playmaking, perimeter defense, interior defense and low post defense. Maybe most of all though, we need SMART players.
Wall and McGee are the only 2 players with start potential talent-wise and we are very much at risk of losing Javale.

Are those the per 36-min rebound averages or actuals?
Sure do agree with you on needing smart players (as long as they can actually play).
Per game.
These are the per 36 numbersYoung……….2.9
Crawford…….3.6
Wall…………4.8
McGee…….11.2
Blatche…….8.9
Booker……..8.7
Mack……….4.8
Lewis………5.3
Mason………2.7
Seraphin…..10

All three would be great
Batum is the big fish for us.
OJ Mayo
I like Nick Young, but I like OJ Mayo more. OJ is a better scorer than Nick because he can score in more ways. Nick usually just stands at the 3pt line or dribbles in and shoots a fadeaway. OJ can create his own shot off the dribble and get to the rim. I think OJ is also a smarter player who makes better decisions with the ball and can create for his team mates. The only reason Mayo hasnt been putting up great number in memphis is because he’s just getting used to his 6th man role, his rookie numbers when he was a starter were good.
