Message to John Wall
Convince Dwight Howard to sign with the Wiz next year – if the Orlando Magic are unable to trade him by the March deadline. :-)
To be or not to be
Things I want to see tonight
1) Wall make a fool of Duhon
2) Jan go all “Stretch 4 Kryptonite” on Anderson
by Ron Carlos Jeines on Feb 1, 2012 6:50 PM EST reply actions
I know it's really not very possible, and in theory it makes no sense.
But just for giggles guys, if we could somehow, someway trade for dwight howard without giving up JaVale (impossible)…would it be worth trying out Dwight and JaVale on the floor together?
I know, neither can stretch the floor, and spacing might be wonky, but would it be worth it to try and have the two most freakishly athletic 7’ footers in the world on the court together in the starting lineup?
again, know it’s not realistic at all, but just for fun: Think it would be effective?
haha no. JaVale is sort of like a poor man's Dwight.
Getting D12 would make JVM very expendable
by Ron Carlos Jeines on Feb 1, 2012 7:00 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
lol yea, obviously, but I guess what I was asking was
would anyone be tempted at the possibility of all that length, shot blocking, crashing the offensive glass, just psychologically being in the other team’s head every time they drive to the hoop……
Like I said, sort of a dumb “what if”….hahaha
To play along...
JaVale & Dwight would be a modern day Duncan and Robinson.
by Ron Carlos Jeines on Feb 1, 2012 7:04 PM EST up reply actions
also important...
Really, really important imo that John has the best game of his career tonight.
Make an impression on Dwight, John…
Why would Dwight want to play with Wall in DC when he can play with Deron in Brooklyn?
by Max Zamphirescu on Feb 1, 2012 7:02 PM EST up reply actions
Because Deron is Wall's floor?
……
lol.
totally kidding btw. There’s not a single reason for dwight to play here unless he thinks Wall can be the next Rose. Although I will say that I think Wall will ultimately have a better career than Deron Williams.
Honestly I think Deron is going to leave the Nets
Nets don’t have the assets to out bid the Bulls or Lakers for a trade. Deron will leave and there without him no reason for Dwight to join in FA
by Ron Carlos Jeines on Feb 1, 2012 7:07 PM EST up reply actions
The Bulls aren't (at least yet) on Howard's "trade" list.
So far his agents have only given permission for trade talks with the Nets, the Lakers, and the Mavericks.
I’m not convinced the Lakers would be willing to trade both Bynum and Gasol (Howard himself has said that’s not a good idea and he hasn’t said he’s said he’ll sign a longer contract with LAL if he’s traded this year), and if they’re not, the Nets look like the place he’ll be traded.
If Orlando winds up not trading him this season, I’d bet on Dallas to get both Howard and Williams in the off-season.
I agree, but Deron is more "win now"
Wall can’t even make a jump shot!

how can a basketball team have so few people with a reasonable jumper?
How does someone like Rashard simply lose his ability to shoot?

This team and Philly
They just know how to annihilate us.
we never penetrate the lane when we play the magic our guards are scared to challenge Howard
we gotta stop with the jumpers and penetrate.
why have we wasted 3 possessions giving rashard the ball
Enduring the pain of wizards basketball....one game at a time
and why did jihn get beat to the basket by duhon??
Enduring the pain of wizards basketball....one game at a time
Same old, same old
McGee getting abused by Dwight, going for every single shot block opportunity and leaving the rebound wide open. Wall getting abused by Duhon on defense. Eventually babies pick up potty training, why can’t the Wiz?
The cheerleading segments have been superb
for past few games.
Gotta find positives where u can get em
Stan Van Gundy
Leave wall and lewis open….let em shoot…don’t even worry about vesely…
We literally only have one person that can consistently hit a jumper outside of 10 ft in our starting lineup
WOW
that’s the second really, REALLY bad ticky tack foul called against JaVale…..what a JOKE……….
I still think we should match any offer Vale gets
but its games like this that make my stomach queezy abt the whole situation
Seraphin
3 fouls in the next 2 minutes. Book it.
vesely doesn't even attempt to get be a factor on offense

Really a shame that Trevor doesn't seem to be able to develop a consistent jumper...
Because if he did? Oh my goodness…the defense would have to come out to challenge, and he could use his absurd speed at his position to get by defenders and to the rim…
I know it’s only his second year, but he had 4 years of college, which makes you think that if he were to develop a J, he would have done it by now…
Still, I think he’s better offensively than people give him credit for. He has a really nice post game.
Also, I love this whole “let’s go to Davis in the post” gameplan by the Magic. That’s not going to work imo…lol….keep chucking it down there, Stan…
I guess your right about the college thing
But I kept on hoping he never worked on it in college cuz he was in the post and has great post moves. No point putting up 100’s of jumpers if your expected to be developing your post game. Oh well.
by BayAreaBullet on Feb 1, 2012 7:44 PM EST up reply actions
That's a great point, because he was stronger than everyone in college
Hope he can still get a mid range jumper. He go from great role player to “I need to be in your starting line up”
never watched him in college but I assume like most college squads they were guard heavy and wouldn't want him anywhere but in the post.

Can we do a straight minute rotation for JaVale?
With his asthma, would it be better to play him hard for 4 minutes and just rotate 2m on bench, 4m in game etc? I seriously don’t know how to get the most out of him with that issue.

I started tracking it last year
Bad McGee seems to pop up mostly after he has been on the court for more than 4 minutes.. I don’t know much about asthma but maybe it would be better to play the same amount of minutes but in smaller rotations. Flip seemed to play him like 10 minutes on then 8 off.

It's ridiculous how Howard gets away with so much shit
But we get called for all these ticky-tack fouls. SMH

It's absolutely killer.
We need to send something to the league office about it even if we end up winning this.
Thats the way it feels
Bu at least Mike hit them at a good pace whenever he did pull the trigger
I'm not going to think of something extra witty or clever to say, I don't want to convince you to see things my way, I just have 2 words for you: JEREMY LAMB

If we had anyone besides Crawford who could score
We’d be up by at least 12 right now. We can’t buy a basket, JaVale is getting ticky tack fouls called on him (really bad calls refs…..what gives?), Nick and John are playing AWFUL basketball, and we’re leaving Anderson – SOMEHOW – wide open on the perimeter…..
….and we’re still only down by 4. Orlando is playing truly HORRID basketball. We need to win this game.
3rd Quarter is Key
Usually if we come out sleeping in the third, we lose and lose BAD.
If we win this game the Magic should be ashamed.
We haven’t even shot a damn free throw yet. Refs are helping out Orlando as much as they can.
I really hope we catch heat from 3 and just blow it open…although I admit that orlando lighting it up from 3 and blowing the game open seems more likely…
Lets hope Randy sticks with the accountability
and we don’t see Nick Young till halfway through the 3rd quarter

Yea...I don't know what Nick is doing out there.
He’s getting killed by screens, which is understandable, but even on that fast break…he pivoted, turned 3 times and took an out of control fadeaway 5 seconds into the shot clock. Not what we need on offense.
well Nick Young and wall are combined 1-10 so if they keep missing and taking bad shiots
we’ll be too far behind by the time the bench gets back in.
We are coming for your job SVG!

Gaining pounds of muscle doesn't help or show you anything at all?
Tough crowd. We were all yelling at him to gain weight so that he wouldn’t get muscled. He still gets muscled, but not like early in his career.
I can't base it off one play against Dwight Howard
It’s not his fault he can play post D. But its not our fault, so we shouldn’t just pay him because its not his fault.
And cmon it is on him a little bit. Seraphin, a borderline d leaguer, was keeping Dwight off his spots better.

I think Randy could have won this game had he stuck with what was working...
I think it’s pretty much over from here, guys. Call me a pessimist, but there’s no way we crawl out of this. No momentum, and a terrible lineup that just can’t play against this magic team. The second unit had it going on all cylinders, completely outplaying them…and we went away from that.
This is so infuriating.

50 year old kid
Who never, and I mean never ,misses a game. I am dead serious about trading Wall. His value will steadily decline as a PG. We need to trade him or try him at 2. No jump shot, can’t run half court O, and even has trouble with lay ups. Right now his name would have a lot of value as a number 1 pick. By next year he will be a long forgotten bust.
It was a dumb drive anyway
I didn’t see any replays so I don’t know if he got hacked or not, but even if he did it was 1 on 3 it was stupid regardless. Has he proven capable of scoring in those situations before? Nope, so it was a bad move.

Do people here ....
Know how to play basketball?I swear it seems like everyone here has never learned to play basketball. The DRIVES everyone are condemning is always the best choice.Shooting JUMP SHOTS is loser ball. The problem I see is the Wizards total lack of respect from Refs.
Wall drives 10 times gets foul called 4 times and hits 3 that would be 50% and depending on the free throw % your looking at 6 to 14pts on 6 shots.
There is nothing wrong with Wall (see Roses drives)the perception from the Refs are whats killing us.

Wall had a rough night, he still some good things
he passed the ball well, shoulda had more assists just didnt make shots, his decision making in terms of drives/etc were awful.
But these games are gonna happen from him
That's the upside of John Wall though
terrible game but he had 10 assists and what 6 boards? He’ll get there.
I am telling you...dude doesn't warm up
you are there…watch him….
there is no reason he gets so hot in the 4th, but is useless in the 1st…
he just stands around with the ball at half court…??
yeah but he's been on fire in 1stQ's too
i’ve said for years Nick is some kind of savante when it comes to shooting, no external influences affect him he is either on or not….defense is irrelevant

to clairify i said "some" and not "all"
but do you honestly think Wall would be playing better on that Cavs team?
Seems like a "grass is greener" type mentality
Also, was Wall not more of a sensation in his first 20odd games?
Seems like there’s a huge performance bump for a lot of players when they start playing… Call it “rookie’s luck,” or just immense swag that comes from naive overconfidence, or the league yet to figure em out…
But Wall and a guy like Brandon Jennings come immediately to mind when talking about young PGs exploding for sensational performances early in their career. Before the inevitable sophomore slump ensues
by Max Zamphirescu on Feb 1, 2012 9:49 PM EST up reply actions
The true test will be in years 3 and 4 with a few more pieces around him and better coaching.
If he’s not an all-star type player by then, then maybe we can start talking about wall not being a great pick.
Absolutely, without a doubt. But in the meantime-
I’d like to see some clear improvement… He’s played numerous games against significantly weaker competition, he needs to be dominating players like Chris Duhon or John Lucas III.
That he doesn’t is simply exceedingly disappointing.

take a second and look at Dwayne Wade's shooting through his first couple seasons, heck, even look at Derrick Rose. Wall will get there.
His difficult learning curve has more to do with bad coaching, poor teammates and a crappy system that he’s playing with.
His amateur jumper can't be blamed on anyone else but himself

lollllllll
cassell is mostly here for wall’s development…he ws great floor general…he didnt take the careless shots that john does routinely
Enduring the pain of wizards basketball....one game at a time
I'm guess you're still in high school eh?
Cassell shot careless shots by the bunch. He was KNOWN for taking careless shots. He was not brought here mostly for Wall’s development and I’m pretty sure he’d be on the staff from Flip if Wall was not drafted. He’s going to be a head coach one day not a PG coach.
nope im a doctor of pharmacy champ...
i thought personal attacks arent a part of this forum….if you don’t agree with me fine…..
but your keyboard thug act is kind of lame

You're consistently one of the worst posters on here
and your hypocrisy and overall lack of basketball knowledge is painfully clear. You’re not a doctor of anything so please stop pathetically lying.
this is unacceptable and against site rules..
ad hominem attacks don’t improve your credibility. Please stop.

I know who's comments I'm never acknowledging again.
Way to elevate yourself to the worst kind of commenter.
I'm a Wizards fan. We've been trying to tell you about Lebron for years. Hated the man before it was cool.

It's also hilarious how every obvious stupid little kid
pretends he’s a doctor on the internet. Totally sad, dude.
Against site rules man.
Those last 2 posts are way out there.

Most of McGee's faults come from mental errors
Which can be directly attributed to coaching/teaching. Maybe not always justifiably, but on some level
Shooting and conditioning I feel like are the two attributes that are mostly cultivated on one’s own time… extra time in the gym, practice court, etc. etc.

why does everyone think that if you shot a billion shots your jump shot gets better??
Or that Wall doesn’t work on his jumper just because his shot is bad this year. Shooting ability is a conundrum really, some people just can’t shoot at times. I’m willing to bet that JW really works on his jumper, but has no confidence in it and as a result he misses the shot even before he takes it. It will take time but, and I’m sure that, just like a lot of other players in the NBA, his shot will improve in due time.
He had a terrible shooting night tonight. But still put up decent numbers with 10 assists, and only 3 TO, with 7 boards, 2 steals and 1 block. Besides his scoring he did have a positive effect on the game. This team might not be very talented, or smart, but atleast they play their asses off, and they don’t quit.
I feel the same way
We are perfectly capable of losing all by ourselves. We don’t need any assistance from the refs!
The FT discrepancy was 39-9 in favor of ORL
The refs won ORL the game.

well maybe we are thinking about this wrong...
maybe Stern is giving us the number one pick…and has put the fix in!!!
You also have to factor in how frustrated Wall felt having bad calls go both ways against him. He had just been hacked just before the phantom call was made on him. It gets into your head as a player. I commend him on his maturity.
You often see guys like Lebron and Wade getting into the game rhythm by driving and getting layups and FTs, then their shots start falling, I think Wall is also that type of player
When the refs rob him of that it really affects a player’s confidence because nothing is going their way, even though they may not be playing all that bad.
You also see guys like Lebron and Wade crying their asses off until they start to get calls
Should Wall adopt that attitude… I guess he has to do whatever works right??
THIS is the key to this game.... I only watched the second half of the 4th quarter and I saw way to many no calls against Orlando,
Usually I don’t complain much about refs, because you get some bad calls usually on both teams, but it was obvious that the refs WANTED Orlando to win.
The facts are the facts
Wall and McGee just played a poor one. Kudos to Nick for stepping up late after foul trouble broke his rhythm.
I'm not going to think of something extra witty or clever to say, I don't want to convince you to see things my way, I just have 2 words for you: JEREMY LAMB
Mcgee is not even allowed to play vs Howard
which may or may not matter as Howard sure doesnt need any help vs him….but really how are you supposed to play him if you are mcgee and get 3 quick fouls just by breathing on him? Happens all the time, last year Seraphin came in and he got the quick fouls too. The refs make it impossible for us to beat this team….not saying we would beat them but damn we have no chance

Site editors,
In lieu of tonight’s horrible referring performance, I politely ask for a “Wizards Win” recap. I think it’s only fair that the disparity be accurately shown in the form of jest and goodwill to the incredible performance by the Washington Wizards.
Sincerely,
Craig

Wish we could have seen more of Seraphin on Dwight after his strong play in the 2nd
by dhall88 on Feb 1, 2012 9:42 PM EST reply actions 1 recs
McGee on Howard is McGee getting posterized
Seraphin on on Howard is Howard getting out muscled on a block and then a T.

I'd like to see Seraphin continue to take more of McGee's minutes.
he played great tonight, he may be a couple inches shorter, but he has a bigger body. Remember, Ben Wallace was the same size as seraphin.
