Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE

The Wizards' forward had to leave the team's game against the Heat with a left calf strain.

The Washington Wizards must play the rest of their game against the Miami Heat without starting small forward Trevor Ariza. Ariza suffered a left calf strain early in the third quarter and will not return, according to the team. Martell Webster has taken Ariza's place in the lineup.

The injury occurred after Ariza stole the ball from former Wizard Rashard Lewis. Ariza picked Lewis' pocket, fell to the ground and found himself unable to get up. He asked the team to stop and call timeout so that he could get out of the game, and he eventually walked off on his own power.

Ariza has started 12 of the Wizards' 14 games this season and is averaging 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He had gotten off to a poor start, but had started to pick it up in recent games. The Wizards will miss his defense, even if they will gain something offensively by having Webster in there.
