The Washington Wizards need some good news on the injury front with so many players sidelined, and it appears they may have gotten it. Nene, who has missed the entire preseason while recovering from plantar fasciitis, appears to be progressing well in his recovery, at least according to coach Randy Wittman.
Via Michael Lee of the Washington Post:
Coach Randy Wittman spoke with Nene and he "said things are going in the right direction with his movement," Wittman said.
Wittman added that Nene will soon be able to get out on the floor and "get shots up" before games. It looks like he's still well on target to return by the October 30 season opener. That's big, because the Wizards' offense, especially with John Wall sidelined, really needs him.
As for everyone else:
- Kevin Seraphin is progressing well, but he will be brought along slowly, Wittman told Lee.
- Trevor Booker and Chris Singleton are both expected to play against the Raptors on Wednesday, according to Lee.
- John Wall has started to resume workouts, though he remains several weeks away from returning. Lee reports that he went through a session with assistant coach Ryan Saunders at the Air Canada Center on Tuesday.
