I've said this already but i can't stress it enough

this team’s defense makes me facepalm. I bet if they just played man on man straight up, we’d have better results than what we have now.

was.

GIl, Deshawn, Butler, Jamison, Haywood

We didnt need a backup pg

by Alpha_Snail on Jan 8, 2012 2:54 PM EST up reply actions

Terrible fit?

Even two years ago, Rubio was a much better point guard than Arenas. At the time of the 2009 draft, Arenas was coming off of major knee surgery and bore little resemblance to the Arenas of a few years earlier. And Deshawn was hobbled by chronic back pain, so much so that he was at the point where it looked like his career might even be over. How could Rubio possibly be a bad fit for a team with huge question marks hanging over both its starting guards? Were we so overwhelmingly talented in 2009 that we couldn’t have found room for Rubio? I don’t mean to be critical but you seem to grossly overrate the 2009 Arenas and Stevenson and seriously underrate a very talented PG in Rubio.

My second team this year is the Denver Nuggets. Love the way they’re playing, even without superstars. 1st in the league in defensive efficiency as well, which is surprising, and they run a very efficient offense as well.

This is Blatche ball

The entire team is playing like Andray on a bad night. Standing around on the perimeter, waiting for someone to go one-on-one. There’s no cutting, few picks.. just atrocious, awful basketball.

telling JaVale to keep the block inbounds or just grab it instead of swatting it into the stands.

I'd like to see Seraphin and Vesely get some 4th quarter minutes

I understand the need to bring Vesely back slowly after his hip injury but hopefully he can get in a few more minutes. Seraphin also needs to play. He won’t get any better gathering dust on the bench.

David Aldridge is right

we need to make moves after this season, and some big ones. You can’t sit around and wait for mid to late first, and second round picks to be your main stays.

Leaving the game

Bunch of fans were chanting “see you Flip!” on the way out. Funny because I heard it and then mike tweeted about it.

Also, seraphin is so disappointing when he’s in. Yes, the game was over, but first he dropped a (definitely catchable) touch pass from Jan, and then another pass right under the hoop.

Absolutely one of the many players we need to move elsewhere if possible.

Also worth noting: Jan went for a lob off a pick and roll and Mack completely missed him wide open, instead missing a jumper. At another point in the game, he missed Crawford cutting in the lane. His vision seems a little…I don’t know…

Could be because it’s the first time he’s played all season though, definitely.

Wall is fine you fail to realize one 15 points is nothing he will score 20 points its only been 8 games remember okc your great okc started off 3-29 durants second year wall needs shooters around like all other points in da league have play uptempo would be a nice stare better yet a 20 point 11 assists guy is wat i want

by Wall is a Player on Jan 8, 2012 3:31 PM EST reply actions

Perhaps

I think you’re right that Wall is a very talented player who is hobbled by being on an awful team (I’ll bet he’s already counting down the days until his rookie K expires and he can leave this disaster of a franchise). But let’s not overstate John’s accomplishments either or make too many excuses. Wall, Rubio and Irving all joined terrible teams. While Wall’s team is atrocious two years running, both the T-Wolves and the Cavs are showing some life and fight. It’s still early in the season but so far Wall, for all his talent, does not appear to one of those special players who elevates the play of his teammates. I think he’ll be a very good guard but I have serious doubts that he has the ability to be a franchise player for a quality team.

The Cavs and T-Wolves aren't that talented

I agree both these teams have stronger rosters than ours. But most are still the same bunch who lost even more games than the Wizards last year. It’s not like Irving joined the 1995 Bulls and Rubio signed on with the 1985 Lakers.

We got one thing we wanted

A lot of us have been slamming Flip for giving max minutes to Lewis and leaving Singleton and Booker on the bench. Well, this afternoon, we got our wish – 68 minutes between S and B – and it didn’t make a difference. Still, I want to see our young players get the minutes and let the over-the-hill gang of Mason and Lewis keep the bench seats warm. If there are any kernals of talent among Booker, Singleton, Vesely, Crawford, Mack and Seraphin, we’ll only know if they play.

Love didn't do much elevating last season

Hard to understand why you put down Irving’s and Rubio’s contributions to teams showing major improvement while making a ton of excuses for Wall’s inability to raise the Wizards’ play. I agree that John and the Wizards would be better if he had more talented teammates. But to me, John’s failure to elevate the Wizards’ playing shows that he is not in the same class as Rubio and Irving. All are very talented but only two appear to be great team players. Still, it’s early in the season. That may change as the year goes along.
