I've recently moved away from DC, so I no longer have my finger on the pulse of the local sports media. I remember in the beginning of the year reading about how this would be the year everything finally clicked for Dray, but I haven't heard anything about it since his riveting opening night speech to the home crowd. Thus I am asking my fellow fans, "Are we still thinking this is the year Blatche 'gets is?' Are we supposed to wait patiently for it to click or are we supposed to wait until October and hope that next year he finally 'gets it?'"
One year, Dray changed his jersey number to seven, to symbolize something something seven days a week. The next year he lifted weights for the first time in his life. This year he read a book. Each time it was a symbol of growing maturity, a step toward leadership. Then we learn that the seven stood for 7 games a season, he didn't understand the impact of lifting weights, and he only read half a book. HALF a book. in like 8 months. He obviously wasn't working out this summer.
I know he was captain at the beginning of the year and all us fans were supposed to think this would be a turning point in his career. I haven't seen anything different, so I'm just asking people in and around DC if we can call Blatche what he really is or if we are still waiting for Shrek to morph into the handsome prince?
