nbadraft.net has the Wiz picking #1 overall
Just thought this was interesting, they updated the projected order or this upcoming draft and we're projected with the #1 pick. Andre Drummond tho? Not sure about that.

Is Harrison Barnes skilled/quick enough to play SG in the NBA?
Or is he a definite 3?

Don't think he's got the speed or athletism to play 2 guard. but I'm not definite on that.

I really like Barnes as a more than solid starter for us,
but after getting Vesely and Singleton, and with the uncertainty of Nick Young, I think our focus needs to be SG and PF.
I wonder if a lineup of Wall, Barnes, Singleton, (insert PF/Love?), McGee would work. If Singleton is versatile enough to guard SGs as he’s shown, couldn’t he play alongside Barnes? Not sure if Vesely projects as a 3 or 4 in the long term, or if he is starter or 6th man material. Blatche needs to get out of here. He is not an NBA starting PF. He continues to shoot his fadeaway jumpers while getting out-rebounded time and time again. We do not have the answer at the 4 position on our roster.

may I ask why?
his 3pt% is 25 and his FT% is kinda low too for SG

That doesn't mean they have intel that the Wizards are leaning towards Drummond
It’s two seperate things 1. They project us to have the worst record 2. They think Drummond is the best player available.
If the best player was a point guard, he would go #1 to the Wizards. It isn’t till after the lottery they look at the actual teams in their slots and their needs

We have 2 gigantic needs
1 a big bodied rebounding big with a low post game
2 Perimeter shooters
I don’t see 1. In this draft so far. Drunnomd is a project I feel as is Davis. Sullenger is not as good as we thought he was last yr imho.
At this point the safer picks to me seem to be wing players like Lamb, Barnes and Kid Gilchrist. Both Jones’ are not high on my wishlist right now.

agreed
No more project big men that have problems putting the ball in the hoop and grabbing rebounds (Enes Kanter would have been nice to have picked up eh?).

I still think we should take the best player available.
Barnes fits a need, but Singleton can start at the 3 on a good team. Even if he can play shooting guard, there’s nothing saying we can’t just sign one some day. I’d go with the best player available. Even if it’s a center, point guard, or power forward – the three positions that we have reasonably talented players at – there’s nothing saying we can’t draft someone, play them 20 minutes a night to make sure they’re as good as advertised, and then trade McGee, Wall, Vesely, Booker, Blatche or anyone else for someone who’s a better fit. We need to look at these guys as assets more than players right now, because we’re not anywhere near making a run for the playoffs or a championship.

Best player available is usually the best option for a rebuilding team.
But that poses an interesting question. This is all hypothetical, but if the 2007 version of Derrick Rose was coming out of college in the 2012 draft, should the Wizards draft him, even though we are building around John Wall (our version of Rose)? He would be the best player available, but the PG position makes it redundant given we have stated we are all in with Wall.

Whatever pick we have, scoring is an obvious need
And go-to scoring at that. I’ll take Jeremy Lamb.
I'm not going to think of something extra witty or clever to say, I don't want to convince you to see things my way, I just have 2 words for you: JEREMY LAMB
It's not a projection, per se
They’re just going based off current records, I believe.

correct
After the lottery they take current roster/needs into account.
