Jordan Crawford, what happened?
Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention towards the end of last season, but I came away with the feeling that the Wizards had basically stolen Jordan Crawford from the Hawks in the Hinrich deal and the organization seemed very high on him through out the summer. Didn't he model the new uniforms with JWall?
Now, I find myself wondering what it is that they see in him. He looks just like the kind of player that I can't stand. He is a worse version of Nick Young. He takes horrible shots and misses them. He can't play defense and certainly can't run the offense. He has been the biggest disappointment of the season so far. Let's cut our losses and give the off-guard minutes to Young and Singleton and let Mack play the back-up point.

Nothing Happened...
He is exactly the same player…a volume shooter that needs the ball in his hands to be productive….
He did that when Wall and Young were out…and a bit when Wall was on the court last year….
He would be the prototype combo guard off the bench….if could shoot….he can’t shoot consistently now, but that can be taught.
There was a reason Atlanta was willing to trade him.

What happened?
He spent seven months without any real coaching, and with visions of being better than Michael Jordan dancing in his head.
The signing of NY changed him
I think Crawford is still trying to prove that he is the starting SG of the future and since Young is now back in the mix, he’s forcing the issue. Last year he got this wild opportunity in DC to come in from the ATL’s bench and hit the floor for as much as he could handle, now he must fit into the rotation, and he’s adjusting. Still with Young only signing a one year deal, the opportunity for Crawford to seize that spot is there for him in his mind. This is an issue that the coaching staff must approach Crawford with and let him know directly and simply what the team expects from him.
He is what we thought he was
Plain and simple, he did the exact same things last year, the only difference is the games have more meaning now. He was jacking horrible shots last year but it didn’t mean much since we were out of the playoff race and really had nothing to play for.

He is exactly the same player he was last year….
Some people became infatuated with Jordan Crawford after his 39 point performance against Miami and the next game when he had the triple-double against Cleveland. But if you remember, John Wall didn’t play. He was tossed out in the first quarter of the Miami game for punching Ilgauskas, and suspended for the Cleveland game.
With Young sidelined with a bum knee – and no other back court scoring options (Othyus Jeffers and Cartier Martin were the other guards available)… Crawford became the primary ball handler, the primary play maker and the primary scorer… A role that he is uniquely suited for…
Now he is being asked to defer to John Wall and become a secondary guy…. which does not fit his game.
Don’t get too down on him yet….!!! Recognizing his weaknesses can only make him a better player. Look what Flip Saunders did for Nick Young’s game…. There is hope that Saunders can teach Crawford to be more selective with his shots… Given his high basketball IQ, and plethora of other skills (passing, rebounding, etc…) Wizard fans should give him time….
What is funny to me is that all last year, I was saying “wait a minute – Jordan Crawford is a horrible shooter – and he takes bad shots, can’t play defense, and is a poor candidate for a starting position” – BUT there were a ton of Crawford supporters here that just kept pointing to his scoring average and his triple-double like that would make everything ok… Now this year, the trend around here that the community is loudly proclaiming to bench Crawford for his “horrible shooting” – and I’m the one preaching patience….
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
I think he can still be a good player in this league.
Like you said, he just needs to work on his weaknesses and get better, he’s still young. He needs to spends hours a day in the gym working on his jump shot, a la Gilbert Arenas. I remember back when Gil was a rookie, similar things were being said about him. But Gil had one of the best work ethics of anyone (few people seem to recognize that) and became a great player (while it lasted). Crawford needs to get a lot better and especially improve his shot selection and jump shot in general, but I think a 6th man/Jamal Crawford role will ultimately suit him best.

Agreed.
6th man a la Jamal Crawford is his ceiling imho, just like it is for Jamal Crawford himself. That is fine but the problem is that Jordan himself seems to think that realistically, his ceiling is higher than Michael Jordan’s (his own words mind you).
To reach ones full potential, you need to have a tremendous work ethic, like you said. But you also have to have a clear vision of where you wan’t to go. Jordan doesn’t have a clue.

Jordan Curse
j/k
:p
I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!
Seems to be a common sentiment here
He is exactly the same player he was last year.
Given that, it’s hard for me to understand why the organization is so high on him. But ok, I will try and be patient. Having been a Bullets fan since 1983, being patient (frustrated) is something I have gotten very good at.
He stinks
He stunk last year, he stinks this year. I’m out.

Not so complicated
He has great moves to the basket and a pretty decent mid-range jump shot. He simply does not have 3-point range. But oddly he doesn’t seem to realize it even though almost none of his 3-point attempts go into the basket. There have been a lot of good scorers in the NBA who did not have a 3. It beats me why the coach doesn’t just say to him, “no 3s, period.” That would improve his game a lot, in itself.
He has qualities, but I'm afraid he can't get out of his own way
He seems to be pretty delusional about his own abilities. The MJ statement and the mentality that he can take and make any shot tell me that. (I also think Crawford is among those who Mo Evans is talking about when he says he noticed a sense of entitlement he has never seen before)
As long as Jordan doesn’t realise what he can do well and what he shouldn’t do at the NBA level, he won’t realize his full potential and remain a very ineffective player, despite his obvious talents.
