Did Ernie just stutter at our goal is to...

“accumulate draf…..development in our players” lol

lots of talk about earning minutes rather than having them given.

ernie and randy making it sound like Flip should have been benching players for mistakes imo

by DCrez on Jan 24, 2012 3:11 PM EST reply actions

LOL Whitman with the straight face says

I woulda walked with Flip if I didn’t believe this team could be better LOL a good man walked outta here.

Man his lil speech is just so contradicting.

who benefits by Flip’s firing.

Mcgee
Seraphin
Vesely
Booker

who doesn’t Blatche and Young Lewis.

I dunno man, 'earning minutes' could mean less youngsters getting handed playing time.

Guess we’ll see though

Great question by Dave Owens of channel 9

if you were part of the staff that caused the bullshit why should we believe things will be different with you as coach LOL and Whittman starts stammering.

by jazzy1 on Jan 24, 2012 3:16 PM EST reply actions

He's saving John's life

its brutal when he runs a fastbreak and tries to bust thro 3 ppl in the paint. (which he has significantly improved upon)

This is a trainwreck

And “this” can mean so many things.

I thought Ernie was resigning

so disappointing to find he’s not.

by dmor20 on Jan 24, 2012 3:22 PM EST reply actions

and throwing the star under the bus...he hasn't name another name

perception won’t be good…

the next coach is going to have to pick up the pieces…

sounds like there was more drama in the locker room than anyone knew…

well…looks like the soap opera continues…

by DavidDunn on Jan 24, 2012 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

Really?

Didn’t he piss off hockey nation by saying he won’t play in the all-star game? No hard hat for you!

P.S. Blatche ate it.

by Unselds on Jan 24, 2012 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

well ovie did say that he is not going to the game because he was suspended despite being allowed to go.

which I understand.

But yeah, now that you said it, Alex took the Wiz and Caps hard hats, but Blatche stole them and subsequently ate them.

Let’s just blame everything on Blatche!

The best part is:

1. Whitman’s got a temper; and
2. If Whitman gets tossed from a game, it’s COACH CASSELL EVERYONE!!

by disgrunted on Jan 24, 2012 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

He just said to look at the teams "coming out of this"

Let’s see ….

Clippers, years ahead of us
Cavaliers, better than us
Golden State, better than us
Sacramento, better than us
Toronto, beat us

by Unselds on Jan 24, 2012 3:30 PM EST reply actions

we beat toronto.

and they are ahead of us by just not having knuckleheads

I just hope that this 'accountably' mindset

doesnt make the leash so short that ppl are getting yanked after one mistake or smalls one, still gotta let em play unless their mistake was something Randy outlines as completely unacceptable……whether it be a hussle play, not finding a body on the boxout or w/e he decides are sub-worthy errors

“Just because you’re losing, you’re not a loser”

by Mike Prada on Jan 24, 2012 3:31 PM EST reply actions   2 recs

when the players say "our records say who we are" and "we are better than our record"

I have to go with the former if there’s a lack of effort in a large amount of games.

In Minny’s case I’ll go with the latter because they are letting it out there every night.

by thewiz06 on Jan 24, 2012 3:33 PM EST up reply actions

i have no problems with that, i know what he means

When Blake Griffin didnt have Cp3 and Caron and stuff, they lost. But u wouldnt call Blake a “loser”. By definition and record, he was ….but yeah

I did think Randy's comment

about playing with Isiah Thomas was interesting and how he was coached hard by Bobby Knight & Chuck Daly.

by el freako on Jan 24, 2012 3:37 PM EST reply actions

I think many of the players hate Randy already

But I could be wrong. Yelling is fine, but you better be a winner to do it.

by Unselds on Jan 24, 2012 3:39 PM EST reply actions

Ronny Thompson is a smart guy

He made the statement thats so true some players need to know coaching is not criticism. You gotta be williing to be coached.

by jazzy1 on Jan 24, 2012 3:41 PM EST reply actions   1 recs

Stop

Alot of hate on here for Randy. He called out Wall through constructive criticism, walking the ball up the court, 1 vs. 5 fastbreaks. Ppl complain too much, i mean Flip is fired, thank God. Lets see what happens next before we judge.

Please provide the reason that calling out your star

exclusively by name in your first press conference is helpful.

Seems to me saying that in the office first would be a better idea…this isn’t Albert Haynesworth we are referring to here….

by DavidDunn on Jan 24, 2012 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

the thing is when you watch it, it's more like he's just babbling something to say

and is not allowed to say Javale’s name, as someone here has mentioned

by DCrez on Jan 24, 2012 3:56 PM EST up reply actions

You guys are out of control with this

You’ve been begging for Flip to be fired. Now he is. And all the bitching and moaning continues. He didn’t call out Wall. Everything contradicts with these complaints: Is it throwing your players under the bus, or making excuses for them? Is it accountability or loyalty? Is it training the young guys or treating them like professionals? It really just seems like an excuse to complain.

by Kenny Sky Walker on Jan 24, 2012 4:30 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

Please find any comment or post I have on this

blog “begging” for Flip to be fired. As a matter of fact, please find any comment of me promoting firing Flip this year.

Please don’t make broad based assumptions about everyone’s position.

On Wall, I would ask again, what is the rationale for making the statements he made about John Wall at the first press conference. I don’t think it added value to the situation based on the team current situation and psychology. I am simply asking for an alternate point of view. I don’t believe treating someone like a professional usually doesn’t included saying your star needs to accept coaching in your first press conference. Again, that is my opinion, and I would not have done it. I would have sat Wall down and provided him with a revised set of expectations before discussing those expectations in public immediately (I say that even if a conversation were held today).

You are welcome to provide an opposing point of view.

by DavidDunn on Jan 24, 2012 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

OK

I don’t think he was calling out Wall. It’s the equivalent of saying “John’s gotta work hard and dedicate himself.” It’s stating the obvious, being encouraging, and doesn’t automatically mean that John hasn’t already been working hard, etc. Maybe he could have added a “continue to” – but I think that’s implied. Honestly, I don’t see a think that indicates him calling out Wall – and if he did, I think that’d be fine too (but he didn’t). He was only saying that John’s not there yet — and he’s not.

by Kenny Sky Walker on Jan 25, 2012 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

I don't really mind him calling Wall out

but if you do that, you gotta be consistent with it and call out the guys that are really getting undeserved minutes cough cough Lewis Blatche cough cough.

i think he was calling Mcgee and Dray out pretty clearly

saying you will sit if you are too tired to make plays (mcgee for asthma, dray for obesity)

He didn't call them out be name.

But in a follow-up he used Wall as an example. Followed by neither he not Ernie accepting any blame for the current situation.

It is a matter of perception. You tell me which quote will likely be included in the “What is wrong” section of most articles. That is the issue imo, not that John Wall has immunity from public comment.

by DavidDunn on Jan 24, 2012 4:41 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe "generic" is wrong

“Self-serving,” perhaps. “He has to accept coaching?” Of course he has to accept coaching – why would you say that unless he wasn’t?

by Mike Prada on Jan 24, 2012 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

Because he still has a ways to go

I think it’s simply saying John is not there yet and that he needs to continue to work hard (and accept coaching) to get there. But I totally agree that he wasn’t calling Wall out.

by Kenny Sky Walker on Jan 25, 2012 3:25 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

Reading between the lines of Flip's response

he seems to indicate the organization above him was messed up with the changes in direction he was forced to make as coach and put him in a no win situation.

by jazzy1 on Jan 24, 2012 3:50 PM EST reply actions

I thought it was a classy response

He actually seemed to care about seeing the young bucks become real players. Being scared you might have to testify before a grand jury before a game is pretty heavy stuff!

by Unselds on Jan 24, 2012 3:51 PM EST up reply actions

There is now going to be unprecedented hero ball

These guys will not listen to Randy…bout to get ugly folks.

by gilsix on Jan 24, 2012 3:53 PM EST reply actions

It ridiculous how he calls out Wall

but doesn’t call out guys who dog it most of the games like Blatche and Lewis. SMH
