Why The Wizards Should Hire John Thompson As Head Coach.
Ray Charles could look at this Wizards' roster and tell you what's wrong. The bigs are undisciplined and have a terrible professional attitude. The team couldn't spell "defense". And there's a culture of losing so engrained, you can't imagine it going away before John Wall demands a trade
I'm not saying John Thompson II (not JT3, relax Hoya fans) could fix all of these problems, but he sure couldn't do any worse than Flip.
Thompson knows how to develop guards, from Sleepy Floyd to Reggie Williams, to Allen Iverson. Imagine how this experience could benefit John Wall, especially with learning the nuances of defense and controlling the flow of a game.
Thompson has a track record for developing defensive bigs at the college level. Tell me he couldn't do something with JaVale McGee and Kevin Seraphin.
Thompson's Georgetown teams were infamous for their defense. I find it hard to believe he couldn't teach this squad to improve.
Thompson was always known as a player's coach, but he was also a stern disciplinarian who demanded the respect of his players. Either Andray Blatche gets with the program or finds himself playing for the Iowa Energy.
Yes, the man is advanced in age, and no, he isn't a longterm solution. But few people know basketball as well as he does. Once we finally fire Flip, Thompson could be a great interim coach.
This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

Nice thought
But I don’t think John Thompson wants to coach in the NBA. He has no patience for knuckleheads.

Had a lot of tolerance for a Mr. Iverson
also I don’t think he would get along very well with Jan
Great coach, but...
too old, it’s been too long since he was out of the game. He’s not looking to go to the NBA. He just wouldn’t be a good fit, especially for this team.
I think we need someone younger, someone who is an up and coming assistant who is out to prove something. Similar to Scott Brooks, sure.
And no, I do not mean Sam Cassell. He might be an okay coach someday, but he’s only in his 2nd season in suit on the bench. I’d prefer someone with more coaching experience. Like how Tom Thibdeau learned and matured as a coach all those years under some great head coaches.

Thought this said JT3 not JT2
Scared me there. Don’t take him away from my Hoyas.

I don't think Thompson would want to deal with low IQ of low IQ players or player that otherwise don't get it.
He brought in the players at Georgetown. He can’t do that in the NBA.
For a sec I thought you referred to the current Thompson. JT3 would not be able to implement the Princeton here because there won’t be enough passes nor cuts to the hoop to make it even worthwhile.
Not true
Eddie Jordan ran the Princeton Offense when he was the HC with the Wiz. It could work, however the IQ wouldn’t match up with the play scheme.
JT3 would not be able to implement the Princeton here because there won’t be enough passes nor cuts to the hoop to make it even worthwhile.
Nice idea in theory
but JT2 is 70 years old. He has no tolerance for knuckleheads. I heard he’s going to retire from his kushy radio job soon. I think the last thing he wants to do is deal with this team

Chuck Person.
Fire Johnson and hire Van Gundy - I'm telling you Thorn was smoking something when he let Van Gundy slip away in the night.
