Blake Griffin to the wizards

So Dwight Howard could be traded to the clippers but they’d have to give up Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. I think this is Ernie’s chance to save his job and bring some excitement to DC I think we can offer a good package of picks and players to acquire Blake in a three way trade. I’d throw in any player (except john wall) or draft pick to make this work..What do you guys think is this even possible??????

Griffin is overrated as basketball player

If you take away his dunks, you have Blatche. He faces up about 90% of his post possesions and puts it on the ground ending in a fade away.

so, a ‘no’ for me

couldn't agree anymore

Iv been saying this since last year. Can’t take away from his rebounds though. He’s good but not as GREAT as they make him to be. Would be exciting to see him and wall every game

Are you being serious? I hope you hate McGee and Blatche. And Nick Young.

Think about it! Take away Nick’s jumper and you have Quinton Ross./sarcasm

You wouldn’t want to give John an actual competent running mate? He rebounds, defends, and actually gives a shit.

I guarantee you he wouldn’t be dunking off the backboard if his team was 1-11.

Then again, we are never getting Griffin. Who do we have that the Clippers would even WANT?

Mcgee—No, DeAndre actually knows how to play basketball. And if he was on this Wizards team given the chances Mcgee has been given I think he could score more. Plus DeAndre is actually a competent post defender, and a better shotblocker—not to mention a better dunker.

Wall—He’d be sitiing on the bench learning behind Chris and Chauncey, but why trade Griffin for him? Doesn’t make sense.

Vesley—Nope.

Singleton—Maybe they’d give us a 1st for him, he’d fit in well.

Everyone else on the roster—Nope. No value.

Just an idea and I dont think its too far out there

This would kick off a rebuild with Orlando they would get some yound players and with the lottery pick could get their future superstar
Wizards get Blake Griffin
Clippers get Dwight Howard
Orlando gets Wizards 2011 lottery pick, 6th overall pick Jan Vesely (European Blake Griffin), DeAndre Jordan, and any other wizard or draft pick they want

by Jon81387 on Jan 17, 2012 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

It's way far out there. Take a step back, try to be unbiased and look at it again.

Why would the Clippers trade Blake Griffin. Dwight has been very keen on not returning to Orlando. LA could easily get him in the offseason without having to give up anything.

Very good point but..........

why take a risk and wait, if he has a choice he might go to NY, Dallas or to the LAL theres no guarantee, that being said… Dwight Howard is the best Center in the whole league and its not even close and to have the chance to pair him up with Chris Paul who in my in my opinion is the best pure point guard in the league is a no brainer.. 2012 Free Agency is loaded so they can add another superstar and role players

by Jon81387 on Jan 17, 2012 5:29 PM EST up reply actions

Dead serious.

I agree though that you can’t take away his dunking or better put, his freakish athleticism and strength that allow him to make plays never seen before quite like that.

However, in the halfcourt he positions himself 15 to 18 feet out and when he gets the ball he almost always faces up. His handle isn’t that great so in these situations you’ll see him making iso plays very similar to what Dray is doing: hesitation, dribble behind his back or through legs and then pull up. Or, if he does try to back his man down, you’ll see the same lame fade away’s or occasional baseline spin Blatche does.

Defensively he lacks awareness. He often misses rotations and isn’t a good weak-side helper, expressed in the fact that he isn’t a great shot blocker despite his insane hops. He sees it to late or not at all and then the shot is already up or he lets the perimeter player get to the rim. As a post defender he isn’t that bad but he should be better with his strength and quickness.

I also dislike him because he stole John’s spotlight last year and I couldn’t stop looking at his awesome dunks ;-)

I should add that I have seen quite a bit of Clippers last yr on league pass

and two or three games this yr already as well. Clippers and Kings were my favorite teams to follow on League Pass besides the Wizards. This year I have replaced the Kings with the Wolves haha

He's young and improving. He didnt have the range on his jumper he has now. It isn't consistent, but it's improving.

He’s shooting above 50%, and averages 20+/11 boards a game playing next to DeAndre who takes a lot of his boards. What more do you want?

by tw10 on Jan 18, 2012 1:19 AM EST up reply actions

Explain to me again how this would work?

The Magic would get Jordan and picks, and we get Blake Griffin? Not gonna happen.

by Unselds on Jan 17, 2012 2:38 PM EST reply actions

Why stop with Griffin?

Then we should give up some more whatever (except Wall or Griffin) in a five-way trade to bring us Kevin Durant. That would make us pretty strong at the 1, 3, and 4. Then all we would need to be really good would be to upgrade the 2 and 5. Maybe a seven-way deal with LA that brings us Kobe and Bynum?

Aside from our likely top 5 pick (which doesn’t matter anyway because they’re competing for a championship) we have absolutely nothing to offer them.

no way blake gets traded for anyone but a bona fide Dwight Howard

The dude is a superstar and puts asses in the seats. But I agree take away his dunking swag machismo and he’s good but not amazing. He’s a good rebounder, a decent passer but bad defender and at the line. He doesn’t have a great post game beyond trying to bull his way into the lane and over power people.

But he’s so damn athletic and strong that he does succeed in bulling his way into the lane and jumping over and on top of everyone for dunks and boards to the tune of 20 and 10 a game, which i guess makes him an all star and won’t be traded for any crap heap Big Ern can put together.

0% chance.

Dwight added the Clippers to his wish list because he said he was intrigued with the idea of playing alongside Chris Paul AND Blake Griffin. Blake is not going anywhere.

Did you say steak?

relax i’ve seen much worse trade ideas on bulletsforever but with such a bad team it doesnt hurt to dream… and I agree with a few of you about blake but amare was once the same look at him now and who wouldnt want to see that bounce alley oop in a game http://youtu.be/lzTmuYOfR9c
how crazy is it really
Wizards get Blake Griffin
Clippers get Dwight Howard
Orlando gets Wizards 2011 lottery pick, 6th overall pick Jan Vesely (European Blake Griffin), DeAndre Jordan, and any other wizard or draft pick they want

Jan Vesley aka Euro Blake

I didn’t give him the nick name and I honestly don’t think he is or ever will be even close to as good as he is. I never wanted the wizards to draft him and I dont think he will ever become a starter but that doesn’t mean some gms think otherwise look at what kwame was traded for… TWICE..

by Jon81387 on Jan 18, 2012 3:39 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

Hope this doesn't offend

It’s just a thought you through out there, and that’s basically the point of this site, so post away
But…this trade idea is absurd. They probably wouldn’t trade Blake for Wall AND javale

by spotless on Jan 17, 2012 5:26 PM EST reply actions

Appreciate the honesty and not completly bashing my post lol

ok I should have probably went into more detail on the orginal post and I wouldnt have gotten so much trash talk. the reason I even came up with this trade for one ever since the rookie sophomore game I fantasized seeing john wall and blake playing together and the talk of Howard getting traded to the clippers and espn saying the only way that happens is if they give up Blake and hes fun to watch but for the best center in the league… come on now. So with that rumor going around I thought id think of a trade scenario where we could potentially get griffin

Ok with all that said I know this is impossible…. (dreaming) but you can’t tell me that everyone wouldn’t benefit

Clippers have the best pure point guard and would get the best center in the league(keep in mind NO center in the enitre league can compare to Howard) throw in some 2012 free agents possibly add another superstar and what team has a chance againts them
Wizards would have the real Blake Griffin
Orlando gets to start off their rebuild strong with the Jan Vesely(Euro blake griffin), a promising young center DeAndre Jordan, Wizards 2011 lottery pick, obviously the magic would instantly suck so possibly their own lottery pick (The 2011 Draft is deep this year would be the perfect year to start a rebuild) plus we can throw in any other wizard they see value in
Now which team does this not workout for?

by Jon81387 on Jan 17, 2012 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

no one really loses

but it feels like orlando gets the least out of the trade while giving up the most.

Ryan Rusillo does this segment on the NBA Today podcast where people e-mail him trade ideas

It’s called “Really bad trade ideas that you really kinda like”. It’s hilarious and still, some really have something to it. This one would have been perfect for the podcast.

We’re fans, we like to think & talk about all kinds of crazy scenario’s that somewhere have a link to reality. Its fun.

Thats funny Ill have to check that out BTW Ive been a BF member for awhile but im new to posting

Whenever a player I like is linked to trades(last few years it has been josh smith) I come up with plenty of these trade scenarios as for how crazy this one was it was definitely out there but in no way was it bad for either team
