This quote was true back then and is even more true now. Our entire team is made up of project players and we can clearly see this team is "livin in the hood". Everyone wants to compare our rebuild process to OKC but lets take a close look at OKC's actual roster construction and then think about ours.
Of OKC's nine players who average 15 minutes or more a game four players were drafted by the team under current management. Of those four players (Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka) three were drafted in the top 4 overall and the other (Ibaka) was the 24th overall pick. The rest of the guys who get minutes were acquired through trades, free agency, or were already with the team. So looking at that roster that's a team that has ONE project player that also turned out to be a success.
Looking at our team we have project after project after project after project with only a few established players. The NBA is a league thats all about talent. If you don't have lottery picks or established stars on your team then you are doomed for failure. So what it all comes down to is either the Wizards are going to have to suffer a couple more years of garbage play to acquire top 5 picks or a strategy change is needed.
