Why wasn't wall this bad last season?

Something has to be up with him, probably mentally.

No one on this roster has impressed me. Crawford gets honorable mention for a couple plays

Mcgee is playing well. The next thing he needs to work on is free throw shooting. If Mcgee can become a 70% free throw shooter that will really help his game.

Thats why you cant have both in them in the starting lineup. Two energy players that provide almost no offense becomes a problem on a team with a historically bad offense.

We have no others options right now

Dray’s injured and Lewis isn’t making shots either so I’ll take the defense Booker gives

are you joking? Nene just got paid. Mcgee averaged better numbers than him last year and most definitely will this year. Kwame Brown just got a 7 million dollar contract after averaging around 4 points and 3 boards for his career. My point being Mcgee is one of the better centers in the league right now. If gains a softer touch and improves at the free throw line he is a top 5 center

This is a very slow blow out

There was no huge run by the Sixers, just a consistent beating. You look up and we’re down 17.

by SkinsWizStangs on Jan 14, 2012 8:49 PM EST reply actions

If one thing comes out of this season

(aside from great potential to win the lottery), it’s that McGee really improved. Say what you want about position defense or intangibles, but McGee is indefinitely outplaying DeAndre Jordan in my opinion. What the hell has happened to Wall? I’ve been stranded at college away from home and haven’t been able to see any of our teams games.

by ukfantdav on Jan 14, 2012 8:49 PM EST reply actions

I am baffled by Wall’s regression. I think most of it is that he is just forcing everything too much. He is trying to do too much. Most of all he needs to learn tempo. He has absolutely no concept of that. It is why he clanks the ball off the backboard a lot on his layups. He doesnt gather himself. Same thing on his jumper. His speed as becoming more of a negative than a positive so far this year. Somebody here made a T.J. Ford comparison and I would have to agree so far

by gregjohnson1229 on Jan 14, 2012 8:56 PM EST up reply actions

I agree with Flip’s comment in saying that he feels like Wall picked up bad habits in summer league. Whenever I would play in more pickup/less organized ball over the summer, my game would have gotten so accustomed to that type of game that by the time I had to play for my school in the winter or AAU in the spring, I wasn’t ready for it. Add in the fact that training camp was so short and that point guard is the toughest position to play, and I can see where some of the problem comes from. But still; there’s no excuse for him to have regressed since last season.

Way to show up JaVale

Rashard Lewis, with all due respect, sucks. And Nick Young is best suited as a catch and shoot guy. No one can put the ball in the basket

It's Flip's fault

He shouldn’t get minutes.
1. Can’t make 3 pointers
2. Not part the long term plan
3. Takes minutes away from Singleton, Booker, Seraphin.

Also, why not play Young some at the 3? It can’t hurt.

Booker and Seraphin are raw. I think Booker is a tweener. He needs to watch tape of Paul Millsap. Someone of similar size and build. Seraphin is abysmal on pick on roll defense and needs a lot of work with his touch around the basket. Not to mention he is also undersized like Booker

Yea, but JaVale did a good job of gaining muscle on his upper body.

When he came into the league VS how he looks now….he’s done a lot of work in the weight room.

Davis could put on some pounds.

And I would love Barnes, too, Rook. I just love how Lamb shoots from all places on the floor. It’s so easy for him. Barnes has more upside and more versatility, though.

by DCeee on Jan 14, 2012 9:07 PM EST reply actions

And even though he’s 6’8", he can probably make the transition to SG in the NBA – he has that kind of lateral quickness and defensive ability…

More athletic minded wings in the league will shut him down as evidence by the way he was smothered by MKG in the Kentucky game. Barnes will be a fine player but not our best option at the wing.

he has all the tools to be a good nba player. Once the next coach teaches him more discipline to tay away from the low percentage shots and plays look out.

I feel the same way about Wall there is no accountability and structure with the Wiz he’s just free lancing and doing too much stupid shit on the court.

We haven';t seen Nick YOung really get hot this season yet...

It happened 8-10 times last year… and those are the games he can almost carry the load offensively…

But when he’s just 50% from the field, and scoring 20 or 25… the Wiz need more from others…

When you get ONLY 8 POINTS from your starting forwards, and your two bigs off the bench (Booker, Singleton, Lewis, Seraphin)… you have problems…

I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.

Definitely

Making me look at the draft in a different light. I expected more from Booker at least though. Singleton only shot twice and Lewis I haven’t wanted to see play this year truthfully.

Booker is best as a back up

we need more offensively from our starting PF

still can't pass though Rook... 0 assists

haha I’m with you on NY though. I’ve been saying Clippers ever since they traded Gordon… he’ll have a good role wherever he ends up.

Not inefficient

Ineffective, most of his points weren’t really that important.

Hard to be important points

when you’re behind by double digits the entire game…. You could say the exact same thing about McGee – ineffective points,… rebounds didn’t count for much… even the 5 blocks didn’t deter Philly from scoring 103 points….

Name a effective Wizard tonight……

well without it, it would've been a 30+ point blowout

instead of a 13 point loss. He’s just a pretty good scorer on a bad team

chenier and buck are so annoying

cups always 3/4 full…give me sonny and sam

John played terrible

lots of turnovers, BUT.

Practically had a triple double.

Speaks volumes about his potential. Not many guys can have a bad night and almost fall into a triple double.

He’ll be ok. Just needs time.

by DCeee on Jan 14, 2012 9:21 PM EST reply actions

oh, and McGee was insane tonight.

Sort of how he’s been playing all year. A few off games, but for the most part, just straight beasting guys.

Only JaVale's numbers made a huge impact

McGee’s 23points> Young’s 27 points

huh?

I think JaVale had the better game but only his number’s made a huge impact??? We got beat down again.

by koop1122 on Jan 14, 2012 9:36 PM EST up reply actions

It could have been worse

JaVale kept the team afloat. Wall put up gaudy numbers but I couldn’t even tell before someone posted them, he played horrible. Young was steady though, just quiet buckets.

If Mcgee/ Wall/Young play to their talent levels

and a couple others stumble into ecent games they will get a couple wins. Problem is Young and Wall has been bad too often this season.

missing blatche

as weird as they sounds..

by stevie on Jan 14, 2012 9:26 PM EST reply actions   1 recs

that's true

if they could only play him 20 mins a game, at center sometimes, depending on who they played, he’d be an asset

by stevie on Jan 14, 2012 9:28 PM EST up reply actions

Bench play was a big difference tonight...

but they are just top to bottom the much better team.

by koop1122 on Jan 14, 2012 9:38 PM EST reply actions

Super depressing thought is

that we already have 15 guys on contract. We can’t even bring up a D-Leaguer on a 10 day contract to save us.
