Beyond Obvious: Flip & Ernie Need to Go
Youth, injuries, Less than stellar talent, etc. etc.
Those are the excuses that have been made for Ernie for years and now, more recently, Flip Saunders.
The time for those excuses should be over. The time for action needs to be now.
It's clear we do not have a coach that demands respect from the players. If we did, this team might not win more, but at least they'd be competitive.
Here is what we need in a coach: a strong personality that demands accountability.
Every time Nick Young breaks the offense and shoots a fadeaway over two players instead of passing to the rolling screener who's wide open underneath; when Jordan Crawford thinks he's Michael Jordan; every time Andray Blatche shoots a 19 ft jumper and loafs back on defense. Those are the main culprits and they repeat the same mistakes over and over again, without much accountability.
We need a coach to make them understand that their actions are unacceptable and they will sit if they continue them.
This team has enough talent, albeit, some of it raw talent, to at least be competitive and have a few more wins this year. That is why Flip needs to go; his official record here is dismal. His record of being competitive is even worse.
For all of those that believe that a coaching change would make no difference, obviously, I disagree. Their record may not get better, but believe me, I guarantee you their is a man out their who will demand and receive accountability and improve their competitiveness. I don't know who he is, but he is out there.
Which brings us to the second part of this mess; Ernie Grunfeld.
This guy has had too many excuses for the teams complacency, horrible defense, and general lack of accountability.
He not only has bought the ingredients, but he brought the wrong chef to make a good dinner. Just like a coaching change, there is a man out there that can effectively restore competitiveness to the Wizards. Once again, I don't know who that is, but he is out there.
Ted Leonsis, by all accounts wants to do things the right way, and he was not afraid to show it this year when he fired Bruce Boudrieu and brought in a coach who would demand accountability.
As it stands today, this team is on pace for the worst record in NBA history. Let that sink in.
What are you waiting for Ted?
Thanks for listening!

watched last nights game against philly
and after 2 min Doug Collins pulled Jrue Holiday because he made 2 silly turnovers. you saw how he sat next to Holiday and talked to him. this is the kind of coach i wan’t for this team!
Doug Collins
is a defensive minded coach, who stresses accountability. However the Wiz organization made the wrong choice by selecting Saunders as being the coach (offensive-minded background; Eddie Jordan 2.0).
Once the accoutability issues come to correct itself, perhaps the Wiz will become a relevant team.

I agree
I think the majority of people want both of them out. Ernies contract, from what I have read, is up after this year. Maybe he will “retire”. For Flip, he still has a few years on hist contract. But he needs to go. I am all for a complete clear of all the coaches for Washington, every assistant and trainer. We also need to get rid of alot of players next year if we can.
I’m tired of saying the same things about what needs to happen, I’ll wait and see if it materializes or not. I think it should.
"I’m tired of saying the same things about what needs to happen"
Then stop saying it. God knows I’m tired of listening…
