Hawks Lose Horford
Off to a good start this season the Atlanta Hawks (7-4) were dealt a major blow today with the news that Al Horford is out for basically the rest of the season. For the annual playoff bound Hawks, it doesn't seem like they're going to fold, especially when they're paying the high salaries for players like Joe Johnson, Al Horford, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, and Kirk Hinrich.
Perhaps this is the "once in a lifetime opportunity" to trade Andray Blatche?
Could it be possible to trade Blatche and Washington's two 2012 2nd round picks to ATL for the return of Kirk Hinrich (expiring $8 mil contract) and their 2012 1st round pick?
I've also always been a fan of Josh Smith. Maybe for Dray and Nick Young?
Everything's worth exploring!

Will he be more productive in 2015?
WHEN HE IS MAKING TWENTY-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS? That’s trading a contained radioactive waste site for a ticking atomic bomb…

Maybe
but the Hawks can amnesty his salary too, or use the cut and extend provision, depending on which sitution fits them better. Amnesty is best.
The Hawks can amnesty whom?
Joe Johnson?

They can't trade their 2012 first
because they traded their 2011 first and you can’t trade 1st round picks in consecutive yrs.
Other than that, I would certainly make a call if I was Ernie. I have been a Hinrich-as-mentor-for-Wall fan since the 2010 trade.
I’d do Blatche + Seraphin for a Hinrich and a top ten protected 2013 first

You can trade 1st in consecutive years, but can't trade future first in consecutive years.
They could trade 2012 because the 2011 draft is behind us an no longer applies to the rule. What they can’t do is trade a future 2012 and 2013.
