Not even eighteen months
33" and 27 lbs…he is destined to be a hybrid forward for the Wizards if I can just get him to put on about 4 lbs more muscle…

Nah
He’s possibly the mentally weakest person I’ve ever seen

I even gave him the Knute Rockne ‘pull yourself up by the bootstraps’ speech, I can’t give 82 of those!

From TrueHoop today:
“From the moment he first saw Yi Jianlian on the court for the first time during Tuesday’s shoot-around, forward Shawn Marion knew the Mavericks had acquired a very special player.”

the Yi paradox
it’s uncanny, you can match him vs the best players internationally and he kills it, he just killed the Dleague, but now he’ll be Yi again for the Mavs. Very odd!
He's the type of player who excels against lesser competition.
And withers against real players.
Nothing odd about it at all.

I think that was tongue in cheek
rec’d for ‘real players’ slight on international talent, I chuckled malevolently

no i mean it
he dogged both Gasol’s during FIBA in turkey, put up monster numbers and threw down in Pau’s grill too….it’s weird
Mostly
I think he can’t handle offense in a team situation where everyone can play above the rim. I seem to remember video of him killing it in weak side isolation plays…

I did get a kick out of that...
Since Yi tends to shoot from pretty much the same spots on the floor that Dirk does, we shortly be hearing different thoughts…

He is a great writer
I too would like to cherry picks teams I have no vested interest in and make humorous aspersions.

Andray Blatche
For the last two weeks I’ve been listening, reading and watching local and national commentators and writers ripping Blatche a new one. Wizards fans at the game last night booed Blatche as he entered the game. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was just reading the Raptors Blogs and check out what this person says:
Jack Armstong’s distaste for Andray Blatche was my favorite part of watching this game on TV. Jack has every right to be disgusted by Blatche. He’s a horrible combination of wasted talent, selfishness and stupidity.
First, who the hell is Jack Armstong and what does he know about the Wizards. Other teams broadcasters can take part in trashing our player because Jason Reid, Michael Wilbon and all the radio host on 980 get on the air and kill this guy. They also do it because we as fans are so stupid that we boo our own player before he does anything wrong.
We’re upset with Blatche because he’s not player we want him to be. From what I’ve seen this year he’s giving effort. He’s trying to get to the basket and not always shooting jumpers. However, the hate and dislike I’ve heard over that last few weeks is over the top.
I don’t think Latrell Sprewell took this kind of heat when he came back with the Knicks. We at least need to chill on this hating on Blatche.

he's is awful and soft
I’m over it and him in our uniform
Seraphin
Kevin Seraphin is awful. As the 18th pick last year he is already a waste. Where’s the hate for him?
He shelters from the hate
Safe within Blatche and Flip’s penumbra?

Thank you.
My sentiments exactly. The criticism of Blatche gets to be pretty personal. “Over the top” is the only way to describe it.
As far as his comments about coming off the bench, I think it is best not to read to much into them. He was asked about it. He has to answer. He will either become a problem or not become a problem. Let’s wait until he becomes a problem before worrying to much that he might become a problem based on comments in an interview situation.

This has bugged me too - people are going waayyy over board
It’s one thing to conclude Blatche isn’t performing up to his potential, it’s another thing to reserve so much hate for the guy because of it. There are sh*tty journalists and TV commentators out there as well, but rarely do they face the same vitriol as the athletes they write about.

we were 2-8 from outside the paint
That’s pretty terrible. And what happens when we play a good center who blocks everything if we shoot like that. Well till then…

or just wait until tonight
for when we play a championship caliber defense that makes scoring from anywhere tough.
in all honestly...I would love to some how
catch the bulls in the back to back….and somehow stay close to build some confidence…I just want to play well the rest of the year with a win here and there…
Those Vesely interviews were the most entertaining I have read in a long time
I loved his answers because it’s clear he loves basketball, he’s weathered adversity, he’s played on a big stage, and he wants to be an All-Star. And he’s 6’11.’’
My favorite phrase (you’ve got to love the Lost in Translation moments) was when he talked about Partizan crowds (and is smart enough not to compare it to the 25 people at the game last night), and he said
"You can’t compare it at all, perhaps only in Greece people rage like they do in Partizan. I don’t think I’ll experience that in another place and I’m looking forward when once again I come to Belgrade to see some game and fans will rage classically again out there…"
