Vlade likes Jan
Could Vlade come here and be a big man coach? I'd like that.
"He's not a typical European player. He's quite dynamic. If he works on his shooting, he could become a regular member of the NBA All-Star team," said retired NBA veteran Vlade Divac of Serbia, a manager in the Partizan Belgrade basketball organization with which Veselý played for the past two seasons.

I like Vlade,
The 30 on 30 documentary series on ESPN had an excellent film that Vlade narrated. It’s about what happened to his friendship with fellow Yugoslavian National teammate Drazen Petrovic when their country fell to pieces. What an intelligent, reflective and brave man Divac is. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
Oh, yeah, and then there’s the basketball part of the film too. What impressed me most about him as a player and which I hope will be true for Jan Vesely is that Vlade was smart enough to quickly pick up the NBA-style game. The film shows him being schooled (in all senses) by Kareem Abdul Jabbar in his first training camp. (Magic Johnson makes the comment that, at first, Vlade stood too tall in the post and thus he couldn’t maintain his balance when pushed). This will be Vesely’s biggest problem too. But like Divac, he’s long, mobile, and energetic. Now if he will only learn the American game just as Vlade did, then I think there is hope for him.
That's very true and Divac handled the ball well and was a terrific passer too.
I hope Mr. Vesely won’t be called upon to be the playmaker that Divac was nor do I think that the Czech will be close to Vlade as a player, I merely hope that Jan has the same adaptability and smarts. Most concede that he has prodigious physical tools and he seems to me to have the ambition.
