Lockout could rob us of Dwight Howard blockbuster??
WHat, what, what? I never thought of this. If there is no season, there is no chance for Orlando to trade Howard for assets. Good for the Wizards, or bad? Discuss.

There's no trade if Wall isn't involved
The Wiz have a better chance at getting him via FA. And that’s not saying much.

to get a great player
we need to give up a great player (or at least a combination of those). Assuming we want to get rid of McGee plus extra players for Howard and we think Wall and Dwight will mean a longer contention window, then maybe we can go for it next year after the season (if it happens) plays out. Otherwise, we’re dreaming if we want to trade for Howard.
I totally disagree
What if the offer was multiple first rounders, plus Crawford, McGee and Singleton? I’m not saying that is the best deal for Washington, but nobody traded their star player for Kevin Garnett, or Deron Williams, or Jason Kidd.
+1
Even if we don’t trade Wall, I think our potential package would be better than what any other team can offer, well unless the Thunder join the sweepstakes.
Formerly know as
That offer might get us Howard
It might also cripple the team for the foreseeable future.
Miami gutted itself to get Bosh and loser. They have no 1st-round picks for a while, and a roster full of scrubs w/ no ability to get anyone worth having (unless they take a huge pay cut). Yeah, they have Wade/Bosh, but they weren’t enough to carry leb to a title.
Now look at the Wiz. Take away Lewis/Biatche, you have a roster of nothing but potential. Trade away all your potential for Howard, what do you have? Wall/Howard/exactly the same situation Miami’s in…except Miami is a more attractive destination for those willing to work cheap, and WASH would not have a chance at a title.

Disagree with you again
That wasn’t an actual proposal from me, of course. I was simply making the point that anyone can throw in first-rounders to sweeten the offer. But even if we traded a bunch of players and a couple of firsts, we still have young talent and cap space. Whatever, though. The point of this article was that with no season, there’s no D. Howard trade.
I'm easy to disagree with
I also don’t know as much about the little details on players etc. that a lot of folks here do, so I’m less “informed” than others. But it’s fun :)

I honestly don't think Howard will be a FA until summer 2013
With the drastic salary reduction that will come with a new CBA, even a max contract will be a $5+ million pay cut from the $19 million player option Dwight has for 2011-12 season.
I think he’ll play out his contract for financial reasons and save face with the public by giving the Magic one more season. If the season is cancelled, he’ll opt in and be a FA in 2013. If there is a season, he’ll play it out, opt in for the summer of 2012 and then get traded that summer or by the deadline for the 2012-13 season.
And I think that since the money on the table will delay the inevitable, the Wiz will be a much more attractive option when Dwight does become available cause we’ll be further in this squad’s development.
His $19 million option is for the 2012-13 season
Just to clarify
