Trevor Booker's injury to sideline him for season, Flip Saunders says
UPDATE: Booker has a fractured foot, and will be in a walking boot and be reevaluated in six weeks. Yikes.
Trevor Booker has been one of the bright spots in what has been a dismal season, but at this point, it looks like we've seen the last of him. Flip Saunders said that Booker has a "crack" at the bottom of his right foot and will not play in the final nine games this year.
Flip Saunders said Trevor Booker is likely done for the season after MRI revealed a crack below his right foot.
Booker ends the year averaging 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game, but his advanced numbers (15.3 PER, 58.2 TS%, 13.4 REB%) look very good. I'm not really sure why he got only 1,063 minutes this season, but that's the way the cookie crumbles, I guess. Overall, he played quite well for a rookie and just needed more time to show it. Maybe there was more of an injury concern that we all knew about.

Now it's more PT for eeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hopefully he can give Bosh a hard time tonight and of course best wishes for a speedy recovery for Trevor
I was looking forward to watching Trevor guard Lebron a little
Too bad. Hope this doesn’t become a nagging injury and stunt his improvement from year 1 to year 2.

You think the Wiz have a chance tonight?
I’m going to the game and hoping but I think Miami might be in Eff You mode after the crushing defeat IN Cleveland last night… hopefully they dont take it out on us and take us lightly as well.
Spread is Miami by 12 points.

Yup
I think they had lost to the Sixers the night before maybe…
I remember the throttling. I kind of want to bet on the Heat -12, but don’t want to be conflicted at the game tonight… It’ll be a Win-Lose, Lose-Win no matter what happens.

No, I'm not expecting to win at all. This game has 30 point blow out written all over it
I just wanted to see Booker, who is similar in size and build, guard Lebron a little. If Flip’s goal is to convert Booker into a SF, I’d like to see how he moves on defense, laterally to guard someone like Lebron.

Mchale said the Heat would "beat the Wiz within an inch of their lives"
while CWebb giggled beside him.
Man, I would love to win this one
I would too
but we don’t have any offensive firepower outside of Wall (and maybe Crawford if he’s on) tonight.
I'm assuming Nick won't be in the lineup
in that case we don’t have a prayer. Last few times we played Miami he went toe-to-toe w/ Wade and/or Lebron, and didn’t back down. That’s what kept us in those games.

better to rest now
he has a long offseason of work ahead of him. shut it down, get healthy and get back to work. His offseason is where the real work gets done.
Anybody know the record for games lost to injury?
Off the top of my head, I can’t remember any team being hit quite this badly.
It's bad, but I think we've had it even worse in recent years.
Hell, Gil probably set the record by himself one of those years.

The Wizards are the leaders this year in different starting lineups
and I think they have had like 72 different players over the past 3 years. Which is unheard of.

The Wiz are consistently near the top of the league in that stat
Something we’re good at! Yay!

But don't dare criticize the Wizards' medical staff
Ted and Ernie think they are top-notch, and we are fools to criticize.

Im going to criticize if the medical staff themselves called it a 'crack'
and not a ‘hairline fracture’
Which means, of course, he broke 17 different bones
And possibly had a mild stroke
seriously
Craw has his work cut out for him.
I really hope VC isnt crawling with fake ass Heat fans tonight, but it probably will be (again)
Please don't call him Craw
It makes him sounds like a longshoreman. Maybe even with a hook.
On the bright side
We get to see Kevin Seraphin foul out in 15 minutes of play.

Yeah - but maybe one of his fouls on LeBron will
cause his Highness to touch his lip, looking for blood…..
He's "delightfully cranky"
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
Or even better
That one of his fouls leads to an actual bloody lip.

Yep - even better yet...

This is one of things I will never understand
Why wouldn’t a bad team (like us) save one roster spot for a good old fashioned goon? It’s not like we really need that 15th guy to real, usable skills. Just go tattoo bronny bo & co.
Maybe?
I would take the over on that tonight, no matter what it was
Screw rational basketball analysis. I <3 Jordan Crawford.

Tough break for Book
But at least we have seen what we need to see from him. I think he is definitely a piece, maybe not a starting piece but as a backup 4/3. We know what he needs to work on, his jumpshot, and consistency. The consistency part only comes with more minutes, which is why this injury sucks for Booker, but we found out he is definitely a building block and know exactly what he needs to improve. I know as soon as the new Wiz Uni’s come out in that Red, White, and Blue, the first jerz I’m buying is GROWN ASS MAN.
Blatche is back as well
"I had a chance to work out and get my shoulder back right. But also get some jump shots up so I can be prepared and ready when they get back," he said. Blatche’s primary concern against Miami will be "conditioning. Just so when I get out there, I don’t get winded and be sloppy and not be able to help my teammates."
Blatche had a season-high 26 points during a 105-94 loss to the Heat on Nov. 29. He was relieved that his shoulder had healed enough for him to get back on the court and shooting again. "Something happened. I woke up and I said, I’m going to try to shoot and I shot. It was perfect," he said. "Pretty much been working on my shot a lot. My shot has been getting better, but I hope I can come out and it can be how I’ve been working on it."
I would prefer that he work on his post game…but I guess he is a finesse player…
If he looks like he's gained any weight I will laugh my ass off tonight.
Hopefully he can be effective, but it’s a tall order for him to come back and be sharp from the get-go after a shoulder injury
How could he have conditioning problems with a shoulder injury?
What was he doing? Somebody please explain to me, how a shoulder injury can prevent you from doing cardio.
by ThePGPhenomenon on Mar 30, 2011 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions
Can you isolate and immobilize your shoulder in any normal activity?
I doubt it. Just because you run on your legs doesn’t mean your upper bodyisn’t involved.
Aside from that, the best way to get into game shape is to play.
all he could do
is ride a bike. does anyone really think a professional basketball player can stay in game shape riding a bike?
He also has the lingering hamstring injury
and the foot.
The artist formerly known as ledellforlife.
blatche
I guess his return is a good thing I was such a Blatche fan to end last season I thought he was on his way to stardom and then he just through all of that away this season so quickly did his star potential fade.
I hope he spends the summer working on his body getting himself in actual shape and then watches alot of film on how to play the right way.
I hope Blatche gives us something tonight and makes the game respectable.
Hopefully
His foot injury won’t cause him to be impacted by the “Blatche Effect.” Guy is a hard worker so I have faith in him.
I don't think it'll have the same effect on Booker
He seems like a hard worker. Plus, I doubt the injury is as serious.
But as a Blatche fan, I’m kind of dissapointed in him. Yes he broke his foot, but look at Reggie Evans. He breaks his foot during the season, misses of few months, and hasn’t missed a beat. He’s still in great shape and one of the best rebounders in the league. But Dray comes to camp slow and out of shape. He used the injury as an excuse to slack off. I don’t know whether I should mainly blame this on him or the training staff, but he’s responsible for his own body. Just makes me really question his work ethic.

Work ethic
that’s been the knock on Dray his entire career. I just wish we could go back to seeing end-of-last-season Blatche. Whatever happened to that guy??

Probably having a cold one with
beginning-of-the-season Nick and Mistake-free Javale

Get better quickly, and start working on that J
All the best to ya, Trevor. It was a pleasure to watch you play in the Laker game at Staples a few months ago. You are going to be a good one.
