As much as I love watching JW play, it concerns me how he tries to drive so much and isn't practicing his jumper in GAMES. (as opposed to during practice). I suppose he drives so much at this point because he's still trying to win games (understandable), but in reality i think he just really lacks confidence in his J which is even more concerning.
I think--although i may be wrong --that many coaches and players will tell you there's no better confidence builder than making shots in games. Even Shaq can shoot a high percentage during practice, and how about one deshawn stevenson's almost beating gilbert to the famous you tube 3 pt contest. Further I've defended Blatches jump shooting (which some have called poor shot selection) under the theory that in this league unless you're a shaq or dwight howard -- everyone needs to shoot lights out from the outside. If defenders don't respect Blatches' J they'll play off him and be in a better position to play help D and his pump fakes won't be nearly as effectice. Same goes for JW. And taking shots in practice, while helpful, just isn't the same.
Now that we're all but eliminated from the playeoffs and with 4 weeks left in the season, I feel JW should be practicing his in game jump shooting a LOT, and especially his set shots and 3ptr. Or, maybe one needs to develop the confidence first in practice before they start doing it in games.
