The Atlanta Hawks are interested in Washington Wizards veteran point guard Kirk Hinrich, according to league sources, but the Hawks are not willing to give Washington both a young player and a first-round pick for Hinrich, the Wizards’ current asking price.

Atlanta is trying to convince Washington take back veteran Mike Bibby for Hinrich, pointing out the potential cap savings for the Wizards.

David Aldridge. The only players remotely close to being "prospects" on the Hawks are Jeff Teague and Jordan Crawford, and I don't like either of them. Their first-round pick will be in the 20s, and the cap savings is pretty negligible (about $3 million this year, $2 million next) for a guy in Bibby that won't want to be here. I say pass.

You can't do a stratight up Hinrich for Bibby trade

Salaries don’t match…..Throwing in Jordan Crawford or Jeff Teague doesn’t work either (Atlanta would still be taking back too much salary)….

Throwing in both Jordan Crawford AND Jeff Teague with Bibby works (salary wise) – but then the Wizards have a roster problem and would have to release someone (Cartier Martin or Hamady Ndiaye)….. but I doubt Atlanta wants to give BOTH their young players away.

Hinrich + Ndiaye FOR Bibby + Crawford + Marvin Williams (expiring) + first round pick works – and I’d be willing to take that trade… Gives the Wizards a young back-up for Wall.. Plus a pick… (It also fits in with Ted’s rebuilding philosophy = trade solid veterans for a prospect and a pick).

So...

We would trade Hinrich for a low 1st and Crittenton Redux? Put me in the against column.

I happened to have liked Crittenton

Big PG, with some defensive skill…. (similar to Teague)… couldn’t shoot…. but you only need a back-up Point Guard for 12-15 minutes a night anyway……

Crawford is a better shooter than Teague, but like Chuck says – he’s turrible on defense….

but all in all...

I think I’d rather keep Hinrich this year too…. because I believe he’ll have even more value next year…. That, and the fact that Mike has convinced me that there will be teams in the mid-late first round that will want to SELL their picks….

Why give up Hinrich to get a pick – when you can just buy one…?

I wasn't a big fan of getting Hinrich for the price we did

Declining both offensively and defensively, two years left, too expensive, won’t really improve a team that is years away from contending, etc. — but now that we have him, I agree. Might as well get what value he may have to us next year as an expiring.

Getting buckets since 2003.

Not worth it

You can get a better deal if you wait.

With 1 day to go, I think getting any first rounder for Hinrich is a good move

He has no big picture value to us

Any word on him sitting yesterday? I thought that might have meant something was imminent…..

This is what ESPN Insider had on Hinrich's market
According to Michael Lee of the Washington Post, the Lakers and Hawks are “among the team that would like to add” Kirk Hinrich.

The Lakers were a rumored suitor of Hinrich at last year’s trade deadline as they looked for more D on the perimeter, while the Hawks have reportedly been after a point guard at this year’s deadline. As we noted Tuesday, they could acquire Ramon Sessions.

But Lee also add this: “The Wizards like Hinrich and have informed his representatives that they would like to ‘stay the course’ with him.”

As such, a trade of Hinrich by the Wizards is looking unlikely before Thursday’s deadline.

I also say pass

Don’t know whether they think the figure heads for the organization is a joke or they were just throwing something out there, but a 34 year old Mike Bibby to save a couple million? How does that really benefit this team in the grand scheme of things?

Sounds like its Jamal Crawford

Expiring deal, works 1 for 1.

It’s fine by me but I’d love to get a pick out of it, or teague
