Wizards Training Camp: Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton, Shelvin Mack All Signed

WASHINGTON D.C. - Quick update from the Washington Mystics' locker room, which is our makeshift press room for the first day of Wizards training camp: a spokesman has confirmed that the Wizards have completed their rookie contracts with Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton and Shelvin Mack. All are practicing today.

My understanding is that all of them will receive the same amount that the rookies last year received. Vesely was the No. 6 pick, Singleton was the No. 18 pick and Mack is the No. 34 pick.

Also, the Roger Mason deal is now officially official, as the team has sent out a press release.

Here's the full training camp roster for tonight and all of camp. Everyone involved is playing tonight. Nick Young, of course, is not here because he does not have a contract.

Where is Hamaday?

I know he was in Canada getting his work visa updated yesterday – but I believe I read somewhere that he was invited to camp.

Also – I thought Larry Owens was extended a Qualifying Offer… Not invited to Training Camp?

I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.

The Wizards have picked up the third-year options on rookies John Wall, Jordan Crawford, Trevor Booker and Kevin Seraphin, while extending qualifying offers for restricted free agents Nick Young, Hamady Ndiaye, Othyus Jeffers and Larry Owens, according to a team source the team announced on Saturday in a news release.

I don’t understand any Wizards FA speculation, are we not already at 14 roster spots and does signing Nick not put us at 15?

Wall, Mack, Mason, Crawford, Young, Owens, Jeffers, Singleton, Vesely, Lewis, Blatche, Booker, Seraphin, McGee, N’Diaye= 15

Hamady, Owens and Jeffers are all renounceable to make room for Turiaf I think

Wall, Mack
Crawford, Mason
Lewis, Singleton, Vesely, Evans
Blatche, Booker, Seraphin
McGee, Turiaf

Thats 13 players without re-signing Nick Young. I can imagine they e

You are assuming Evans, Dutch

But the tweet from his agent was ambiguous… he may sign elsewhere.

The Wizards are rounding out a well-balanced, high energy roster, though That’s good because they will need to muster (and sustain) all the energy and enthusiasm they can to to (a) make the type of progress they need to show this year and (b) get the Fans onside.

I like this roster...

Young guys at every position…. with young guys backing them up…. and savvy veterans as 3rd string (or at best back ups)….

Guys that can play multiple positions…
Crawford can play the 1 and 2 ; Mason can play a little 1 and is normally a 2 ; Lewis can play the 3, and still play a little 4 in smallball lineups
Singleton and Vesely can play the 3 and 4
Blatche and Seraphin can both play 4 and 5

Lots to like about this roster…..

I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.

Mardy Collins?

You mean the guy who’s biggest achievement in the league thus far was getting B*tch-slapped by Melo in the Knicks-Nuggets brawl?
