Positive Outlook after Game 2

I honestly wasn't too upset after this game. It was disappointing seeing Wall miss all those layups and Blatche looked worse than usual, but I think the good outweighed the bad here.

Chris Singleton looked great and has cemented his status as being a part of the Wizards future. I hope by the end of the season he is starting over Lewis.

JaVale McGee was solid and considering the difficulty in finding centers, I think he'll be resigned after the season.

Ronny Turiaf continues to play great defense, make great passes, and really should be team captain.

Nick Young is playing like a capable starting 2 for a winning team.

Ideally I want to see Trevor Booker or Kevin Seraphin steal Blatche's minutes. Even if Blatche can average 16-8 a night, I'd prefer to have Booker's 8-8 with defensive intensity. Jan Vesely cannot be stealing Singleton's minutes, but he needs time to develop too. Anyways I'm not pouting about the game b/c maybe some pieces of the future can be seen molding together.

McGee

What was “solid” about his game. For the second in a row he had the worst +/- on the team. His basketball IQ is in the negative numbers. He’s usually out of position on defense and rarely knows what to do with himself on offense. Yes, he gets some points and rebounds, but he gives up far more. The fans on this web site are way down on Blatche, which is understandable, but McGee is, if anything, worse on the court. Yet he always seems to get a pass by fans who remain captivated by his size and athleticism.

McGee gets wayyy too much flack from Wizards fans

I think too many people put McGee in the same category as Blatche. We gotta stop that. Blatche is much more of a negative influence. I actually think McGee gets undeserved flack for the mistakes Blatche commits. Like for example, most times when Blatche misses a rotation, people blame it on McGee far too many times. McGee would thrive next to a PF with a high BBIQ, that defends and rebounds. McGee would look much better with Trevor Booker in the lineup than he does with Andray Blatche. If that were to happen, McGee would get much less criticism.

I agree

I’d like to see McGee with Turiaf or Booker as the starting frontline and believe McGee’s +/- would be better b/c of it.

Blowout loss.

Not to mention its a poor stat to begin with. It relies on too many things not under the player’s given control. If an opposing player scores on your teammate, your +/- drops by two points.

The Positives:

1. Chris Singleton: The kid can play ball and plays the way we wish all of the Wizards would play! He’s a very good defender and he will only get better with seasoning and experience. I’m hoping that his confidence will come with PT and eventually he’ll be more comfortable attacking the basket and drawing contact at the rim. He’s an explosive leaper and finisher.

2. Nick Young: Man can he score! NY is doing exactly what he should (and what he said) he would do by taking out his contract frustrations on the league. So far he’s been instant offense off the bench running with the 2nd team and I would imagine he’ll be starting tomorrow night against the Bucks.

3. Ronny Turiaf: Turiaf has been a game changer coming off the bench bringing his energy, rebounding, and IQ off the bench. As much as I’d like to see Seraphin getting more minutes, I gotta say, I love watching Turiaf mix it up!

4. The Cheerleaders: I thought I liked the new Wizards uniforms, but I really liked the new uniforms for the cheerleaders. The “jersey bra” top looks hot. At least the season ticket holders have a distraction.

After re watching the game

and no desire to expound, I actually thought the team wasn’t that bad. I see so many of the mistakes they make as time correcting. Its young players on a young team, but they are getting better.
