December 26, 2011 will be the saddest and maddest day for me as a Lifelong Bullets and Wizards Fan.
It is the day that I came to the conclusion that the Washington Basketball team (on their t-shirts) is flat out dillusional. They have allowed one of the lowest IQ basketball players that I have ever seen to basically hold the team hostage. Andray Blatche is physically gifted. He can be a very, very good player. The Wizards have invested 6 years and recently $35million to this player. He just isn't very smart. He makes very bad decisions on and off the court.
Did the Wizards just make Andray CAPTAIN for opening night? Isn't this the guy that committed the ULTIMATE SIN in all of sports: Refusing to go in a game when summoned by his Coach 2 seasons ago (and remember Flip started him the next game)? Isn't he the same player that had his picture taken with a Wizards uniform having a pot belly?
Ted Leonsis called him one of the cornerstones of the team. Ted you lost me. I now have ZERO confidence that you know how to run a basketball franchise.
Andray Blatche has been nothing but a corrupt basketball player. He says he wanted the ball in the post. Isn't this the same guy that went on 106.7 last year and declared that he is a "FINESS PLAYER?" That the post isn't his game? Isn't this the same guy that instead of getting the ball and going straight to the hoop strong, that he instead will go for a reverse layup to avoid contact?
Maybe Chris Singleton should pattern his playing style after Andray Blatche. That's what making him Captain tells me that he should do. Shelvin Mack, step right up. Time for Andray to take you under his wing. Maybe Andray should teach Seraphin and Booker his reverse layup. He defintely should show Vesely how to play 18-20 feet away from the basket to avoid the post. And please show Vesely how to dribble off your leg.
Last year when Andray went through that stretch where he played 18' out and Flip would say "I told him to go down low," but then Flip would refuse to take Andray out for not listening. Is that Coaching? It is coaching- horrible coaching.
We have very young talented players in every position on the court. It is stacked with First Round draft picks John Wall, Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton, Trevor Booker, Kevin Seraphin, JaVale McGee and Jordan Crawford who all are several years from hitting their prime. They all seem eager to learn (maybe not JaVale-but we will never know if Andray's influence has already had on him). On second thought we do know the influence Andray has had on JaVale: He showed him how to fight at a nightclub. It is just sad that Upper Management has decided to let Andray Blatche be a major part in their development.
I hope one day that the Wizards open their eyes and look at how the great basketball organizations run their teams and who they let on their squad to influence their young players. Did you ever wonder why last Christmas after the Wizards publicly put Andray up for trade that not one rumor surfaced that any team had made an offer for him? I wonder why? No. I do know why. Andray Blatche is untradeable. He is valued to only one of 30 NBA teams. Sorry for us fans.
To the one person, or persons, that decided to let Andray be Captain for opening day, I have one thing to say to you: You have dropped the level of respect and confidence of myself in the Washington Wizards organization.
Ted, time to wakeup and take care of our Washington area's professional basketball team. You are the custodian. Now act like it.
