A quick note before we begin: please do not post a link to an illegal stream in the comments section. It's illegal and the site could get in trouble for it. I don't care if other SB Nation sites let you do it. Here, you can't. Thanks, folks.
Nick Young, Trevor Booker and Maurice Evans will be back in time to play in this one, but Jan Vesely is doubtful with a hip injury. Hopefully, the Wizards put forth a better effort.
GO WIZARDS!

they said on Friday's game that
Philly got ours for the last game (the white dude with glasses came in with Phil and Buck for a few minutes) and that we would get theirs tonight.

Was looking forward to seeing Jan in action
But I guess getting Booker and Young back is good enough to make up for it
Kenny Smith dissed Javale
in the outtakes they showed from Open Court…
Something like “you don’t have to tie your shoes for Javale McGee”.
One word: Cinnamon
I like the Bullets
I don't think those guys have ever showed us love.
They seemed pretty high on Butler back in the day though.

what do you guys think of the away unis?
Skins, Bullets/Wizards, Nats, Caps.
All Washington Everything.
I'm still trying to get used to the red aways. The white homes are so nice.

They were better than the Wake Forest JV alternates
But I never lied the old colors
No reason to think this game will turn out any different from the first one...
Wizards turning the ball over…
Philly not missing any shots…
deja vu
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
Still no smooth lookng offense....

Not defending Blatche
just saying fadeaways are not a bad thing, they are actually an unstoppable weapon that many great big men have used throughout the history of the nba…
so I guess I’m defending the fadeaway lol
Haha well if a player can make it everytime then shoot em everytime
But he can’t

Couple of things of note
Crawford’s shot-selection is ??
Wall’s handles are atrocious for a starting PG. That’s why he’s always running into brick walls and traveling. The guy is so out of control with his handle.

but that’s an ugly-ass shot that only Kobe can consistently make.
it was a bad shot indeed.

I think NY was open behind the 3 on that shot.
Skins, Bullets/Wizards, Nats, Caps.
All Washington Everything.
Wizards shot 29% for the quarter
Blatche 1-6
Crawford 1-4
McGee 1-4
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
I think it's pretty apparent
Our players were not dedicated to working on their shot. They all look pretty rusty.
Watching the First Quarter
I think Wall thinks he has to do it all for this team to do anything. I’m worried because htat’s increasing his turnovers and creating a bit of a stagnant offense.
I really like the energy of our 2nd unit.

and three years of 6 mil afterwards.
He wanted a $9 mil per year. Your generous deal would have been
rebuffed, tonedru. Not enough dough.
over 4 years it would actually almost the same.
plus, who wouldn’t prefer up front money instead of over 4 years?
Way too much money for a good scorer
who can’t pass and rebound even adequately. We’ll see if he improves his weaknesses this season. I’m happy we didn’t pay him 9mil a yr at this point
Follow me on Twitter: @adamvolo

as long as he continues to get better, he'll be worth it. Plus if crawford ends up better than NY, then we could just trade NY.
now he could jet for LA or somewhere else after this year and we could end up with nothing.
I give the credit to
Mack, Booker, and Turiaf, they improved the defense and offense. Nick improved the offense, but his defense was horrid.

True, I'm not saying this is a sign of things to come or anything

The guy only got six shots - not a huge sample size, give him a break

In order to replace his production, if he hypothetically wanted to walk. We can talk all we want about being a fiscally responsible front office, but honestly who do you think you can get that can replace his production? Crawford? Future 1st round draft pick? Some free agent? I mean we’ll have to see.

what about just trading him at the deadline to a contender who needs a SG for a future 1st rnd pick?

History shows that every player who's accepted the one year QO has left after the year.
So I’ll go with that… plus Nick seems to want to go back west.
we can but he has a veto

by Marine4Life51 on Dec 20, 2011 9:45 PM EST up reply actions
I don't remember Phil ever rebuilding a team from total scratch
closest thing was the Lakers from 2005-2008 when they went from lotto team to Western champs.
Typical for losing teams to blame the coach...
No one will win with this roster right now. We are in the “rebuilding process”.
Bit of a knee-jerk reaction, doncha think?

he looks almost as lost as the players out there.
the only thing consistent about this team has been the inconsistency since he arrived.
I’m not saying that we should fire him now… but if we don’t show significant improvement this year with the same starters, then we need a replacement for next year.
They played better than they did on Friday
Obviously something clicked shrugs

Fire him if there's no true progress and chemistry.
but i don’t mind if he was gone right now from last friday…
Its a 66 game season. I say the over/under is 15 wins

Well, definitely better game
Saw some stuff I liked, saw some stuff I don’t like.
Wall’s play is getting a little alarming at this point though.

game recap
Both sg’s looked bad Crawford and Nick Young especially Crawford
defense was better
mcgee played well
Blatche shot poor but passe well with 5 dimes
Singleton and Booker hustled on defense
Wall had his moments both good and bad
found out Lewis has retired but hasn’t submitted paperwork
Mack played well
Flip coached poorly
our problem is our offense has no focus in the halfcourt. Its all random aside from the post dumps to Blatche
I think ultimately Flip has gotta go to.

Half-court execution
Definitely needs work. 100% agree.

First time posting
Long time reader, first time post:
Any chance we’re overreacting to these last two games? I mean it’s preseason after a lockout shortened off season with a super young team.
Also, just wondering if anyone knows whether Flip’s running vanilla plays like they do in preseason football?
Granted they made some mistakes, but I saw a lot more effort than the first game. Maybe we should wait to call for Flip’s job/Blatche trade/etc… until mid season or so.
Go Wiz
Agreed
For the most part, I’d like to see more improvement just from a game execution standpoint. More patience, better execution, sounder defense and fundamentals. I know this is an athletic roster and we like to run, but for the team to really improve they need to start executing in the half court.

i honestly thought the random pickup games played during the offseason would hurt players like wall. Seems that in the last two games he’s still getting used to playing within the confines of this offense and playing against above avg. defense.
It’s pretty frustrating that Blatche won’t go inside though, i’m so sick of that fade
blatche thinks he's Michael Jordan
or is that Crawford?… or both… Hmmmm. maybe our players just all have a jordan complex.
and why in the world are our only preseason games against the same team?
shouldn’t we play someone else?
Yeah but philly is still closest
Notice all the preseason team pairings are of teams that are geographically closest to each other. It makes much more sense for the Knicks to play the Nets and the Wizards to play the Sixers than for the Knicks to play the Wizards and the Nets to play the Sixers.

still i think this system hurts the younger teams who need to see different looks and personell to learn their systems better.
we’ll see how sharp the wiz are when they open up the season next week though.
Positive spin...
We got blown out in the first game at home
We were significantly better on the road and it was competitive until the last 90 seconds
Next game we get even better?
Likely? No but it could happen.
the problem is the #1 overall
is not playing like a #1 overall. he suppose to be the solution but at least so far he’s part of the problem.
Disagree
we know what Blatche is and I don’t know why Crawford is even discussed on this board. He couldn’t get off Atlanta’s bench for a reason. He’s not important.
But Wall, I’m not seeing it right now. Starting to look like not a franchise pick.
I'm more worried about Blatche
I don’t think he’ll ever get it. The talent is there. He would be a monster if he had desire, but I don’t ever think he’ll flick the switch, at least not in DC at least. I would look to trade him by the deadline.
Formerly know as iNFamous SWaGG
should send him in a package deal with crawford for a complete player.
think anyone will bite?
If they keep on producing on the stat-sheet
they should be able to reel something in.

wall has the personality of someone who takes responsibility for his mistakes and works tirelessly to improve
that’s why I’m not too concerned.
I'm not worried about Wall. I'm worried about our "stand around and look" offense.
Flip’s offense seems to invite way too many contested jumpers and/or quick shots. If we’re not as talented offensively as other teams, shouldn’t we have more movement on offense with lots of screens and cuts? What gives?
His speed...
He does have a lot of room for improvement though. Worries me but also you can look at it like he has the potential to improve in these areas which would make him a special player… time will tell.
Wow - I didn't see the whole game...
But Crawford got 18 points – he must have had a good game….
I mean , 18 points…. that’s impressive….
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
He added 6 rebounds and an assist....
Those 6 rebounds were what did it for me…. I mean – he’s really more than just a scorer….
He can get 18 points and still grab 6 rebounds… That’s a multiple tool player right there!!!!
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
He's not just a one dimensional player
18 and 6 – boy oh boy
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
I can maybe even buy into his statement
that he’s better than Michael Jordan…. Just wait until the season starts and we get to see him do the same things he did in this game , 66 more times…!!!
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
Sigh
This wasn’t a great game for either SG candidate. Young and Crawford were both bad.
Young wanted 9 million. Crawford is getting a million or so. I’ll take 18-6 from a player getting paid that little.

Ernie needs to lock up Crawford to a long term deal....
What did Michael get? $27 Million a year?
Of course, we can’t give him that…… but he’s worth the maximum extension…
Pay the man – he’s proven he can score in this league…
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
more likely...
he forgot to turn green font on… .-)
Let the season play out
but I’m concerned with Wall’s game. I don’t know what happened but I thought he came out of the gate last year as a surprising pass first play maker. He doesn’t look any better to me.
I’m trying to keep from panicking but I’m starting to feel like he isn’t a franchise pick. Will Irving be better? God I hope not. Then with this year’s pick we get a Euro tweener who can’t shoot. Not a happy guy right now.

Probably just the pre-season
but I agree Wall has to show us a bit more. Where has Lockout-Wall been???
by Marine4Life51 on Dec 20, 2011 10:05 PM EST up reply actions
i think you're weighing too much on 2 preseason games. He hasn't received consistent minutes either, and they keep changing the personell on the floor with him.
He’ll be fine once he and NY and the other guys get a few more practices in together.
ahhh.... Who needs Young...
Let’s play Crawford more minutes – he had 18 points tonight….
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
WTF, Rook
Nick Young was 3-10 tonight. Neither Young or Crawford made a good case. I’m not sure why you’re trashing Crawford. Guy wasn’t shooting well, but he was playing hard. Selfish, but hard.
It’s not like Young was a paragon of passing.
Anything but trashing Crawford....
Praising his scoring ability….
Didn’t you watch the game – He scored 18 points…
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
Crawford is clueless
and so unimportant to the future of this team…
I know I'm being a bit rash
but there is something about Walls game that bothers me that I can’t quite put my finger on.
he got used to playing with Wade and Lebron and other all-stars over the summer.
so now that he’s stuck with these guys he doesn’t know what to do anymore. LOL
It's a lack of trust
You can tell that he’s not sure other people can make the shot.
agreed. and it makes sense when you look at what the guys do with the ball when he passes it to them
maybe he’s tired of watching crawford fire off horrible 3s and Blatche fading away from 18 feet out.
This is news to me
His handles look the exact same as last year, and they’re very poor. His handle is too loose and high, and needs to keep it tighter to his waist. He can’t even keep his dribble for a long time.
Formerly know as iNFamous SWaGG
Plus Minus on a game by game basis is a pretty meaningless stat
Sort of like points scored…..
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
Flip
I will just remind that Wall was picked #1 and not Flip. Better see some progress this year Flip.

With this schedule
38 minutes is way too much.
