Rodney Stuckey re-signs with the Pistons for three years and $25 million, which may help clarify Nick Young’s market.
Quoted for truth.
If he wants more, as a restricted free-agent with zero leverage, than that I hope the wiz tell him to go #$@! himself =P

$8 million is still a helluva lot.
That’s what a guy like JRich makes in his prime. Nick’s not worth that right now…I have a real problem with that much money. At $9 million we should freaking sign Afflalo to an offer sheet

Stuckey was one pick before Nick in the 2007 draft…Pistons hoped he could play the point as a combo, which didn’t really work out, but has had a more consistent career than Nick so far. Sadly for us, I would say this means $25/3 is maybe a little bit more than Nick is worth right now, but not much more really. I just don’t think Nick is worth keeping for around $8m per year.
I could see it if Nick would agree to front-load the contract so the remaining years are around $6.5 per…but otherwise I would not feel bad at all if Nick walks for $25/3. A S&T would be great if we can get some veteran front court help out of it, even if only for one year.

9 million? Lawsy...
can’t support that at all…what say you, Rook?

I don't see him being paid more than Blatche
Blatche already feels underpaid, I don’t think its good for the team to start creating dissension. I think the team can adjust without Young. They were more about getting the ball inside to their big men. They have Mason, Singleton, Crawford, Mack, eventually Vesely. Those players can hit 3s. It make take time, but I think they are going to start Vesely sooner than i expected. i am looking at Veselys last team and beginning to see how poorly Vesely was used by Partizan or Vesely had a great off season. Either way, I don’t see Young starting on this team.

what say you, Rook
I’ve always advocated re-signing Nick Young. The team needs his outside shooting… but $9 Million is just crazy talk…
As I’ve said before, I think he should be signed to a 4-year contract starting at a little more than the MLE – ie: 4-years, $25-$26 Million…..
I used to have super powers until my psychiatrist took them away.
three years and $25 million
Sounds right.
Hope they figger it out soon.
If he’s coming back the sooner the better.
Dragging it out doesn’t help him or the Wizzies.
bloggers
Which one of you bloggers are paying nick? On your job;
your’e, maybe are payed to much or not enough that’s your business, take care of yours and stay out of nicks
I was thinking the same thing
I think its gotta be either Nick himself (lol) or a friend or family member or maybe a super NY fan, it appears like this person just recently made an account in the last 2 days and this is his/her one and only post to defend Nick

Nash is making 11 Mil and Nick wants 9...c'mon man
Odom is making 8 mil in his last 2 years of his contract
and then Jason Terry making 11 mil….
Its a mess, but the compromise is there somewhere in the 7-8 range. At the end of the day he is a deadly 3pt shooter, and competent defender, Not a rebounder or assist man, or team leader but he WILL improve on at least one of these throughout his new contract
I think 4 years for $30 million sounds good

Too much. and Im a Nick Young supporter....
Nick is a great shooter, a good on-ball defender, a mediocre team defender, a subpar rebounder and is atrocious in the assist department. Not a great steals guy, no blocks but also little turn overs. That all middles out to an player overall and his PER last yr confirms that (slightly above league average of 15). His shooting is what makes him a starter, especially with us.
$30mill/5yrs sounds good to me. That averages out to be around 10% of the cap at $6mill per. A trade-able contract down the road if need be too.
Nick is running out of options so if I was Ernie, I’d offer this and tell him the offer stands if he wants to wait. If a team is going to offer him $9mill per, it hurts but I would let him walk. With such an unclear roster going into the future, it is very important to maintain as much cap flexibility as possible.

Yeah, I'd be fine with that too.
I don’t know how much we can frontload though with all the new signings.

get outta here nick
No way I would pay his ass that kinda money. There is no market for him getting paid that much dough.
One point worth mentioning
What the heck is Joe Dumars doing?
That's a question

we were down 45 points in the third quarter
for those thinking it would have been a different story had nick been out there, one thing we should all be able to agree on is nick young is not THAT good.
the major concern by far was wall getting dominated. we can’t have that.
sometimes a bad start is the best thing that can happen.

Come on Nick
I keep pulling up Bullets Forever, just so I can read that the Wizards have resigned Nick. Anybody else having this same problem?
I'd rather take a flyer on Redd if we can't get Nick within reason
We will need some outside shooting. I hope they sign Young to something reasonable or get him to take the one year offer.
I’d rather suck for another year than break the bank on Nick. But Redd could add some spacing so the youngsters learn where to play on the court.
I was never that enamoured with JCraw’s game. Less so after last night.
Pierre is the smooth operator. @JaValeMcGee34 is the monster you've grown to know on the court.

Just watched some, I hate these pick-up games, they always reinforce bad habits
I’ve seen Dray take three 3 pointers already. I don’t want to watch that.

I was yelling at him
to take them. He hit 3-4 from long range- id rather him spread the floor than take the isolation shots

At least we hit our FTs
85.2% last night vs 74.5% for the year last year. Hope that holds up. The ability to make FTs equates to the ability to close out games.
I was pleased by our rookies last night. Or at least less displeased than with the vets.
The locked-in starters get a bit of a conditional pass for now. It’s not unusual for vets who aren’t fighting for a starting spot to stink it up in preseason.
Biggest disappointment was probably Crawford. He’s auditioning for the starting SG spot, and that’s the best he could do?
that was my first reaction when i read alljokeaup comment
That we resigned him

if we need more "bad news" by seeing progress of other teams"
The Wolves blew out the Bucks last night.
Ricky Rubio came off the bench and scored 6, grabbed 6 boards, dished out 7 dimes, and had 2 steals, all with 1 turnover. Kevin Love had 21 pts, 15 boards, 3 dimes, 1 turnover, and did this in 26 minutes……
wolves wont be that bad this year
Or atleast not as bad as they were last year. But Rubio did have a solid night but not too impressive imo

At least the Wolves on the west coast.
but playoff for us? We don’t have to tank to miss it….in case somebody prefer ping pong balls.
Every body did. Except maybe Orlando who lost big against Miami
We’ll have to see in the second preseason game if there’s really something to worry about

one caller on the junkies suggested that wall be traded to another team so we can get more picks.....
while I believe that everyone is expendable, wall is the least expendable and really, he’s untouchable unless he has proven himself to be another Dray, Nick, JaVale, or DeMarcus (god I hope he doesn’t get his hot head…)
