Needs: Um … good players?
Additional Notes: I can't figure out Les Boules. They could have amnestied Rashard Lewis, created globs of cap space and cherry-picked two or three of the remaining quality guys in a market that just crashed. Why not make a run at Afflalo and Wilson Chandler (when he becomes available) and gun for the playoffs right now, especially when John Wall is the odds-on favorite to become this season's breakout star (a la Blake Griffin last year)? Potentially, they can sign two quality guys for a discount price. How does a nucleus of Wall, Afflalo, Javale McGee, Wilson Chandler, Jan Vesely, Jordan Crawford, Turiaf and Whatever They Get From Andray Blatche sound? Why wait?
What They SHOULD Do: It's too late … they never amnestied Lewis. Now that the Clippers are finally good, I'd like to nominate Washington as the league's new laughingstock-for-decades franchise.13

I generally like his work but I thought his description of the wizards was way off here. I wanted to hear your opinions.
Well we are 50/50 between
Simmons’ doomsday picture for us, or us having a successful rebuild to be fair.
Afflalo and Chandler?
That’s not exactly a ticket to the playoffs. Pretty bizarre commentary.

solid role players
arron afflalo is, imo, an elite perimeter defender. You could put him on 1s,2s, and even 3s. Hes more than just solid. On offense he is terrific without the ball, and is a great catch and shoot shooter. Very efficient on that end as well.
Wilson chandler is a very underated player, he didnt fit the d’antoni mold, hes a smart gritty player. He has a terrific midrange jumper, plays hard defense does a lot of the little things. Hes actually pretty athletic and can put the ball on the ground and make things happen, but doesnt force the issue. Also a good spot up shooter.
i think wall, afflalo, chandler, vesley/booker, and mcgee make a damn good team tbh
I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

I also disagree with Simmons and agree with his buddy House who commented to the right of the column.
Why use your amnesty when you will be forced to spend lots of money just to get to the salary cap floor? Afflalo and Chandler are pretty good players, maybe players that could put a team over the edge, but not really necessary for our rebuilding process right now. We would have to over-spend for them. Let’s just worry about getting Nick Young (our Afflalo) signed to a reasonable contract. I’m hoping 4 or 5 years worth $26-$38 million, seems reasonable compared to some of the other contracts out there.
Also, I really liked this jab from Simmons:
The only thing that stops LeBron better than DeShawn Stevenson is the fourth quarter.

Lewis salary would count towards the salary cap floor
even if he were to be amnestied
what they missed on..
Is that there are going to be more options next year. You can trade Lewis contract for assets next year, use the freed salary to get a superstar level player. It would be silly to get mediocre players for a bad team and think that is going to take this team to the next level. If team was already in the playoffs then maybe but is getting Wilson Chandler and Arron Afflalo really going to make this a championship team? Come on man!
