Yi Jianlian's MRI on achilles injury comes back negative
He should play against Lithuania on Tuesday, but I'm worried this could become a lingering problem.

Thankfully it was not serious
Personally I would like to see him rest it until camp. China is not going any further with or without him playing.

Hope him a speedy recovery
But I don’t know why Everyone thinks this guy is all of a sudden a Stud. Yeah he was balling in the worlds but it’s a much different game. If he’s healthy, he’ll put up his pedestrian 9 points and 4 rebounds, but considering our log jam at the 4, I doubt he even gets that.

Agreed
But thats ok for 1 year behind Blatche to me. If he really has improved (you must admit the reports on his summer workouts and now at the worlds are promissing) it would be great and resigning might be an option.

Can you imagine if Javale was playing like Yi is in the World's?
People would be going crazy. Nevermind the level of competition, Javale would be the next Kareem – my god it would be annoying.
Why is that? Let’s look at potential reasons….
- Maybe it’s because Yi is new to the team so we don’t have the same affinity for him that we do McGee.
- Maybe people thought Ernie should have saved the cap space and, not that this showing is evidence of anything conclusive, but they don’t want to consider that they may be wrong (those same people will be belly aching that EG should have signed him to a longer contract at the end of the season btw).
- Or maybe because it’s easy to have a mental block when, heaven forbid, we have a logjam at the 4.
- Or maybe it’s racism.
- Or maybe people just think his mom is hot.
But, there’s nothing wrong with getting excited about Yi playing great on his national team. So go ahead….let yourself go.
- Yes we don’t have the same affinity with Yi as we do with Javale.
- Yes they are wrong if they wanted to save the money because we’re spending the same amount as we would on Quintens contract (1m.) since we got the other 3m. from the nets. Only waiving Ross would have been cheaper cap wise. So for 1m. i rather have a maybe serviceable 7footer with range than dead wood on the bench in street clothes.
- Yes we do have a logjam at four. Especially when you consider that Javale plays more like a four despite having the size of a 5 and Armstrong does as well.
- No its probably not racism, what remark around here could possibly lead to that suggestion!!
- If you mean Javale’s mom, mwah not so much, to me anyway. Yi;s mom Dunno but she must be a relatively tall Asian woman so it could be interessting. “So go ahead…let your self go” Mo(no)goman ;)

Waiving Ross
would have cost the same… Ross had a guaranteed contract. Waive a guaranteed contract, it still counts against your cap – and you still have to pay the player.
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
Never said there was anything wrong with getting excited
but to expect him to translate that to the NBA is bordering on the delusional.
Patrick Mills, Jorge Garbajosa, Carlos Arroyo and Daniel Santiago. All guys who’ve played exceptionally well against sure fire NBA talent on the USA squad, but none of whom could be more than 3rd stringers on an NBA team. Is Yi the exception? Maybe. Or maybe he is the number one option on a Chinese team void of any NBA talent (with Yao injured) and he’s getting a high volume of shots against inferior competition to what he’s used to.
But your right, we’re all going to be belly aching over not resigning Yi. I’m Sure Milwaukee and New Jersey (who are both scrambling to assemble young TALENT) feel the same way.
Yi is a decent scorer and an average rebounder..
Defense is the problem.. I hope he’ll be ok when training camp starts..
The NETS is like my own sense of direction..
The MAGIC made me realize that one..
