Francisco Elson backup center?
He´s Dutch i´m Dutch i know, i know but seriously...
i saw him play this weekend with the Dutch national team against Estonia over here and he still got game especially defensively
Dude is a big body for Javale in practice at worst and won´t eat much his minutes. If he does play he´s a presence in the paint grabbing rebounds on both ends and runs the floor well in transition. He is a veteran with a ring and he´s available at the vet minimum.
Yeah the wiz got 4 7 footers so numbers wise we´re not looking for another center, but we never got that veteran backup C that was needed. Plus Yi is hardly a big, Armstrong is....uhm...a nice guy probably (!#%!!?!) and NDiaye is an inexperienced project who´s probably DL bound. And well, if you look at what is available right now youre looking at guys like Skinner and Boone for crying out loud.
He´s the ideal guy to fill out youre roster with IMO

to me your argument was thrown out the window when you said, “but we never got that veteran backup C that was needed.” Um, isnt that exactly why we signed Hilton Armstrong?
Not saying im for or against signing Elson (at this point it doesnt matter because whomever we sign wont see any min) just saying you didnt exactly make the most compelling argument. ….

Mcgee, Blatche, Yi, Booker, Seraphin, Armstrong, NDayie(maybe)
We have ENOUGH bigmen…whats up with all the random FA Centers threads???

really? Armstrong?
Like i said, i agree that we have enough 7 footers, but Yi is a SF without an inside game (or strength to develop one) NDiaye (maybe, i agree), Booker, Seraphin and McGee are young and indeed Armstrong is the one that is suposed to be the experienced veteran to bang with them in practice and to teach them positioning etc.
But come on guys…really? Armstrong?
He doesnt have much of an inside game nor is he a very good rebounder, he could be better at practicaly everything but he’s just not strong enough. He just stands around on defense. Being 25 or so, he’s still a developing player himself. He’s not our veteran big that’s gonna make the youngsters any better at all.
Yes we have enough bigs numberswise but if anything, we got the wrong one’s (yi & armstrong) in my opinion and thats why people are still posting about possible bigman. We need a banger who knows the pivot position, who boxes out hard, rebounds, strong weakside help D and who can flatout bang in the post (O&D). He has to have experience in terms of age/years in the L and preferable have significant play off experience.
If you look at players that qualifi and are still available Elson is an option as there are others im sure.
As long as we're throwing out names
How about Josh Boone? Good garbage man: rebounds at both ends, plays decent defense, runs the floor well, and doesn’t try to do too much. Plus, he’s a local kid.
