Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have shown "serious interest" in free-agent forward Josh Howard, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

While the Bulls could have the salary-cap space to sign Howard, depending on what happens with their offer sheet to J.J. Redick, the Celtics would need a sign-and-trade to arrange a deal because they have already used their midlevel exception on Jermaine O’Neal.

Howard has yet to receive a contract offer. The Washington Wizards also have some interest in re-signing Howard.

I hope we re-sign him

Is it possible to trade him for other players if he is not interested in coming back to the Wizards.

Should be around the 20th

And they could even send us Sheed so that it doesn’t cost us anything.

S&T!!!

that is a move I could get behind.

by MR on Jul 12, 2010 2:16 PM EDT reply actions

yes indeed

Problem is that Boston has nothing to trade, except Rasheed as noted above. Boston will probably want to bring is a couple of guys for Rasheed’s money, so this deal may take some time and involve a couple of teams. Hopefully the Wizards can get a draft pick out of it.

How appropriate that Rasheed end his career with the Wizards. He would probably not retire just to stick it to the Wizards.

You guys must live under a rock...

Rasheed Wallace retired some weeks ago and the Celtics will be drafting in the late 20s possibly 30s next year…

by ATLredskin on Jul 12, 2010 2:33 PM EDT reply actions

oops

except that he has not filed his papers yet. He hasn’t done that because this way he can be traded, help the Celtics bring in someone else, then retire and come off the new teams’ books.

1) We’re not idiots. We are aware of the details Wallace situation, perhaps more than you

2) I would take a late 20s pick in exchange for nothing (since I don’t really care about re-signing JHo)

3) There are not “30’s” first round picks. At 31 you’re in the second round.

Correct me if I'm wrong

But I was looking at our summer league line-up and noticed Kevin Palmer. Anyone else think he could put on about 20-25 pounds? He’s tall, but a little under-weight.

We’re working out Adam Morrison today, too. He could be a pretty good player if he was quicker and could jump a little higher.

Adam Morrison?

That’s the one with the Porn-Stache right?

Who knows what he’s got on his face these days. If the L.A. scene hasn’t sucked every semblance of humanity out of him, he will take refuge here, for the vet minimum. And try to somehow duct tape and paste the shattered pieces of himself together again, having been lost in that reservoir of sin and female stick figures.

I don’t know how much to believe this but I heard Kobe on Jimmy Kimmel Live saying that Adam went hard in practices and it was just too bad the Lakers are so deep. But it’s also too bad there aren’t any NBA highlights of him..

But I was looking at our summer league line-up

6 hours into becoming a Wizards “fan” and already using “our”? There is a 2 week waiting period before you can hop on the wagon.

"However, the true greatness of the Ravens’ line lies in their malevolence, led by right end Haloti Ngata. Simply put, Ngata can’t be blocked by mere mortals. He is not a product of the human species. He is really a creation of a building contractor, made of cinderblocks and some type of flesh-like covering. Throw in Kelly Gregg at nose tackle and behemoth rookie Terrence Cody and you have something truly frightening."

lookin ugly for us....

When the hell are we gonna sign a legitimate nba starter…its lookin more and more like our roster will be a haven for d league caliber talent….I’d love to get in on the al jefferson trade talks….think they would have some interest in Gil??

You didn't get the word?

Its a rebuild my friend, and the early stages of a rebuild at that. We’ve got a rookie PG and six young bigs to develop. We’re not in it for wins at this point.

Would love Al Jefferson.

by purpleonblack86 on Jul 12, 2010 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Wouldn’t mind keeping Howard around. By far our best option for the 3 spot and a pretty damn good player.

Wall, Arenas, Howard, Blatche, McGee is a line up I would love to see.

Agree

He’s the perfect stopgap until next year’s draft, plus a year (or portion thereof) of development.

by jones-y on Jul 12, 2010 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think Howard works for us

I have heard conflicting reports about when he is coming back but I’ve heard December several times. I’m not sure he will be available or at full strength enough to be effective as a stop gap player this year. The incentive would be to sign him to a bargain basement 3 year(9-10M) deal and hope we get great value the second and third years. Not sure if he would go for that though.

by BayAreaBullet on Jul 12, 2010 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions

totally agree with this...

Howard was playing well for us before he got hurt. He ran the floor very well, and spread the defense with his outside shooting.

with howard, the Wizards would have one of the fastest starting five— from baseline to baseline— in the NBA…. They’d be like OKC>

by CVC on Jul 12, 2010 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree

….I am just re watching the Boston vs Bulls first round again from 08/09 season, man D Rose and Gordan played excellent together. If Arenas comes back with healthy legs this season, I don’t want to jinx it but I could see Wall and Arenas do a lot of damage, and if Rose and Gordan can play decent defense from what I am watching then there is no reason Wall and Arena can do the same if not better. Arenas > Gordan in my mind.

by Kend3zy on Jul 12, 2010 10:06 PM EDT up reply actions

But does that mean put together a complete laugher of a squad around wall??…..

by JONAH 31 on Jul 12, 2010 8:10 PM EDT reply actions

I thought his injury...

..would essentially keep him off the court all next year. Even if he were to play he would be playing at less than 100%.
